I came here because of the 4.9-star Google rating. In retrospect, that was the most impressive thing about the restaurant. The food is essentially street food in a central Berkeley location: mostly variations on dosa, prepared with so much oil that I felt sick to my stomach for more than six hours afterward. What makes the experience worse is the rating. After eating here, I read the reviews carefully, and I simply do not find the near-universal five-star enthusiasm credible. A genuine 4.9 suggests something exceptional. Nothing here came close. This feels like a 3.7-star restaurant wearing a 4.9-star rating. Suspicious.
Amazing place. We went on Wednesday for the unlimited dosa. One of Berkeleys hidden gems. The food quality is just as good (or better than India), they serve piping hot tasty fresh chutney and sambar (unlimited) with the Wednesday deal. I'll be back here many Wednesdaya for sure. Oh and Sameer was very friendly and courteous. Super guy.
We were in the area and decided to stop by ID Cafe and we were pretty excited to try Dosas which are savory like crepes with delicious sauces or chutney. We also ordered Rose milk, which is refreshing & delicious and their Mango Lasi was perfect as well. Excellent customer service, they keep the place tidy and organized.

I've been waiting for a long long time for a authentic south Indian place in the east bay and it has arrived. Amazing, yummy, authentic place, less oil, the masalas and flavors are from grandmother's kitchen.

I had the idli and dosa, and both were fresh, soft, and delicious. The dosa was crispy on the outside and flavorful, while the idli was soft and fluffy. The sambar and chutneys were tasty and complemented the food perfectly. The service was quick, and the restaurant was clean. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend this place to anyone who loves South Indian food.
