  Having shopped at your store for over 30 years, I was dismayed to receive my groceries yesterday in HANDLE-LESS paper bags. This is a serious inconvenience to all of us who have to haul mulitiple bags of groceries. It is serious enough for me to consider alternative grocery stores to shop at

  Slightly higher end than Safeway be sure and use the parking lot in the back if you need to park a car

  Our hiking group chose the Berkeley Mountain for today’s hike, hoping to have lunch at Chez Panisse but they don’t serve lunch during weekdays. Since last time when we hiked at the Lands End in S.F., we had great experience purchasing Sandwiches at the Safeway by the beach and we saw Andronico’s right by Chez Panisse, so we decided to give it a try. Walking towards the back where the Delicatessen is located, the store seems well organized & fully stocked. A lady named Tanikka stands behind the counter greeted us with a friendly smile, we said we need a minute since there was many choices on their digital menus, she replied “ Take your time and let me know if you have any questions.” We discovered they also offer the $8.99 Special Edition with bag of Chips & 20 oz Soda just liked the Safeway by the beach in S.F. So we ordered 3 of the Special Edition and I requested spice sauce and Jalapeño to be added, Tanikka replied “ No problem, and what kind of bread you like, if you want any other veggie on top with mayo?” When the sandwiches were all ready, she make sure to handed me the one with spicy sauce with Jalapeño added plus 2 more packs of the spicy sauce and told me “ Enjoy your sandwich and here’s more spicy sauce for you in case you want it more spicy, have a nice day!” Why am I so impressed with the whole transaction with Tanikka? I have been in the Pizza Restaurant business my whole life, 50 years of my life was in this industry, I have retired since 2023. If my experience today happened in a smaller scale delicatessen, I would say Tanikka must be the owner, or at least the manager. Is her demeanor towards customers is very genuine, warmth and friendly just liked I would as an owner. I wanted to leave a tip for Tanikka but there was no tip jar around, I felt Tanikka needs to be recognized for her extraordinary customer service! I would have Tanikka to train the entire staff at Andronico’s because you can only be as strong as your weakest link, because as we checked out at the front, the experience was totally different. First, the cashier wasn’t aware of the $8.99 Special Edition, after we showed her from our phone about the Special, she still has a hard time to proceed efficiently. I don’t believe that’s her fault. Maybe the manager needs to inform the Cashier about the Specials? This $8.99 Special Edition is offered from 7/1/26 to 10/31/2026. If you’re lucky enough to have Tanikka make this Sandwich for you, it’s okay to skip over Chez Panisse just for once!
