  In barstow, to take my godson school shopping.We stopped here at this soul food place.Which was extremely good.Bathrooms was very very clean in which I love We will be back. We had the oxtail dinner,forgot to take picture 🤦‍♀️

  I was hoping to find a few local venues to launch our food segment of the channel but unfortunately, this stop didn’t do it for me. I’m not sure if there was a change in management, or perhaps a change in the kitchen, but the food, across the board, had way too much pepper and a lack of seasoning for me. My husband said the single turkey wing he received was flavored well, but my entire plate was disappointing. I thought the single turkey wing for $21, which carried very little meat and too much fat, was a bit pricey considering a great meat vendor, 5th generation, is just down the road. I’m always rooting for small businesses as we own a few ourselves, so maybe you’ll see a stronger, more positive review in the future but at present, some work to be done on the quality (taste) of food being served for me.

  Where I grew up in lil racine, Wisconsin I loved it because you could go down the street to vontes granny and get you a nice juicy plate of SSOOUULL FOOD!! Then I moved to helendale California and I was very upset I couldn't do that anymore... Then google suggested southern twist and let me tell you they definitely put the soul in soul food matter fact it tasted so good make you wanna slap yo momma🤣🤣🤣😅 naw ....but for real tho the food made me feel like I was home! The briskette was so perfectly falling right apart it was so tender and melted in your mouth the turkey had a nice lil ki k to it but man it was amazing!!! I strongly suggest!!!!

  You must stop at Southern Twist for delicious truly soul food cooking; the kind of experience that reminds you of family. The service and care given to your experience was amazing, and every bite felt like love was put into the cooking.

  Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience at Southern Twist. We were really looking forward to trying the BBQ, especially because the reviews are generally very positive, but our visit did not meet our expectations. We ordered the brisket, and for around $30 we received only two small slices of meat. Unfortunately, the brisket was extremely dry and tasted as if it had been sitting for a long time. It was difficult to enjoy because it lacked tenderness and flavor. The sides were also disappointing. The mac and cheese especially did not taste like traditional mac and cheese, and the overall impression was that the food was not freshly prepared at the time we visited. Maybe we simply came at an unlucky time, and perhaps the quality is better when the food is freshly made or when there is more customer flow. We understand that every restaurant can have an off day, and we hope this was just our experience. However, for us, it was very disappointing, especially because we were excited to try authentic BBQ. For the price, we expected much better quality and a more enjoyable meal. We left most of our food untouched because we unfortunately could not enjoy it. We hope others have a better experience, but based on our visit, we would not return.
