My experience with KinderCare in South Milwaukee was extremely disappointing and concerning. Throughout my time there, I encountered constant miscommunication from management. It seemed like every director had different information, different expectations, and different explanations for situations. No one appeared to be on the same page, which made it very difficult to trust that my children were receiving consistent care.
One of my biggest concerns was the professionalism of both staff and management. I received phone calls that were inappropriate, hostile, and completely unacceptable for a childcare setting. Rather than working collaboratively to address concerns, communication often felt rude, aggressive, and unprofessional.
I was also concerned about the level of supervision provided to the children. On multiple occasions, staff appeared distracted by their phones instead of actively engaging with or monitoring the children. There seemed to be very little structured curriculum, positive redirection, or active involvement from teachers while children were in their care.
The most alarming incident occurred when I was called to pick up my son because the center claimed they could no longer accommodate him due to behavioral concerns. When I arrived, I found him separated from the rest of the group. While outside, the staff member assigned to supervise him appeared to be focused on her phone rather than watching him, and my son had climbed to the top of a tall fence before I intervened.
When I questioned why my child had been singled out and asked to speak with a director, the interaction became confrontational. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, I felt dismissed and treated with hostility. The situation escalated unnecessarily, and I left feeling that my concerns as a parent were ignored.
To make matters worse, my children were immediately removed from care despite tuition assistance funds having just been paid to the center. Rather than attempting to resolve the situation or discuss next steps, I felt pushed out without any meaningful effort to address what had happened.
Parents trust childcare providers with the safety, development, and well-being of their children. Unfortunately, my experience at this location left me with serious concerns regarding professionalism, communication, supervision, and overall management.
I would highly recommend that parents look into other childcare centers before choosing this KinderCare location. There are much better options available in the area that provide a safer, more professional, and more nurturing environment for children.
After leaving KinderCare, my boys enrolled at The Learning Experience in Oak Creek, which is only about eight minutes away. The tuition is very comparable to what we were paying at KinderCare, but the quality of care has been night and day. Since starting there, none of the behavioral concerns that KinderCare repeatedly claimed my children had have been an issue. The teachers and staff at The Learning Experience have explained that many behaviors can be improved through proper supervision, consistency, engagement, and positive redirection rather than labeling children as problems.
The difference between the two centers has been remarkable. My children are thriving, learning, and receiving the attention and guidance they need. The staff communicate professionally, genuinely care about the children’s development, and create a positive environment where children can be successful.
From one parent to another, if you are looking for a childcare center that truly cares about your child’s well-being, growth, and development, I strongly encourage you to check out The Learning Experience in Oak Creek. Our experience there has been everything we hoped for in a childcare provider.
