The flagship building of Southeast Tech's campus, the George S. Mickelson Center is where Southeast Tech students go to access resources such as Admissions, Financial Aid, the Student Success Center and the Bookstore. It houses Business Administration, Media, Engineering Technology and Early Childhood programs, as well as the Hovland Learning Center: an independent learning lab offering free classes, self-paced or group classes, GED Preparation and Official Testing, Basic Skill Development, and ESL Classes.
The George S. Mickelson Center was built in 1990 and given the name "George S. Mickelson Education Center" in honor of the late South Dakota governor who made much of the development on the Southeast Tech campus possible.
