At first, this center seemed okay, but over time the experience became very disappointing. While there were a few good teachers, the lack of training and constant turnover made me feel my child was not safe or properly cared for. Most days my child was with staff unfamiliar with him, and instructions were often not followed. The new staff that started shortly before we left was especially concerning. Many of them would sit in the corner doing nothing or be on their phone while children cried. Another major problem was that I never knew what classroom my baby would be in. When I asked, I was told it depended on who showed up that day. That kind of uncertainty is not acceptable for parents who need to know where their child is and who is caring for them. In addition, the center lost my baby’s belongings, including diapers, wipes, rash cream, clothes, and more items. We eventually switched to the KinderCare at 101st and Memorial, and the difference has been incredible. The management is stronger, the teachers are consistent and engaged, communication is clear, and the curriculum is more structured. Most importantly, my son is happy, learning, and thriving. After a year of frustration at South Mingo, I’m relieved we made the move.

My child has been going here for a year and a half, and our family loves it. The teachers all know him by name in every room. One of the teachers even got him a little batman car for his birthday a couple weeks ago. It feels like I'm dropping him off with some long lost extended family. My son adores every person in that building and comes home talking about his teachers, friends, art projects, the food that he eats, singing songs he learned that day, and wanting to show us new games he plays. He is counting (in Spanish and English), learning the letters of the alphabet, and even started writing letters in his name when he was just 2. He started potty training with his teachers in the 2 year old room, and all I've had to do is just buy some pull-ups and keep it going at home. This week he starts in a dance class on site during the day. I'm paying a little extra to the company that provides that class, and I am so happy to do it. He loves dancing and signing. Because of this partnership they have formed with another community service provider, I don't have to race around frantically one night a week to get him to a lesson across town, try to get everyone fed, do laundry and whatever other chores, and get home in time for night time routines. I didn't even have to do any research. I just showed up one day, saw a sign, and handed them a check. I love that they set up that opportunity for their families. I can't wait to see their adorable little performance in a few months. I'm inviting EVERYONE. lol KinderCare also has fun theme dress up spirit weeks every so often that I've seen the kids really enjoy. (Today was pajama day, and my son was just dumbfounded that he could wear jammies to school. We talked about it all weekend leading up to the day to prepare, because he thought I was just flat wrong. "No, we wear jammies at night night time, and shirts to school, Momma.") We participated last year in a Halloween festival night that was just adorable as well. I'm hoping they're planning on doing that again, because it was great fun, and a wonderful opportunity to chat with other parents that I don't usually see due to our different pickup/drop off times. I can't imagine going anywhere else. I feel so fortunate that they are both in my limited price range and right on my way to work.
