Asking for the care givers names was asking for " confidential information "... if their employees names are confidential, what else is being hidden from the parents?! Bad vibes from Shanna before passed on to someone else, she looked sickly. Then the 2nd woman, I totally judged how she responded to her own child there... debating on reporting beyond this...

We couldn't be happier with HDS! We have had our sons in the AK program and daycare this year and have been so impressed with the growth they have made. The staff is kind, caring, and welcoming! There is extremely low turnover. The facility is always clean and organized. We trust the care our kids have been given and would recommend HDS to anyone! Truly a great experience!!

I have had three children at the Hiawatha Day School over the past 9 years. I am thankful to have such an incredible place in my children’s lives - kind, knowledgeable teachers; healthy, homemade lunches; and an incredible music program!

First of all we applied a few years ago when my oldest was just over 1 and pregnant with 2nd. They had a 1 year wait at the time and had constant communication with miss Carolyn and the owner. We were able to get both of our kids in after waiting 9 months. I will tell you why the 9 month wait to get into this school was WELL worth it. Please see below 😀 We have a 4 year old in JR K and a 1.5 year old in the toddler room. We have been with Hiawatha Day school sense our 4 year old was 2. This was this best decision we have ever made. They focus on each child and their needs. They customize plans and insure education is a focus even in the infant room. (Infant room even sticks to your schedule not making you switch to their schedule-that was a HUGE plus) The teachers are purely amazing and a special shout out to Miss Carolyn who rocks at helping run the HDS. She knows every family and truly cares for the children as if they were your own. Our lives have changed a ton and seen a HUGE academic improvement in both of our children. •They feed only home cooked meals and it always smells yummy in that kitchen. •concerts •report cards •progress reports daily and a HUGE focus on -reading -Spanish -behavior issues addressed privately with parents so parents know how to help correct behavior such as biting and as a class the kids focus on a "no biting zone" talk about how to deal with conflict etc. how they support the families who go here is purely amazing. •they have actual teachers in each room and a program for early child care after school staff from the local colleges and Xavier high school. We will be sad when the day come our two kiddos have to go to another school. Love you HDS!

A few months ago, my husband and I found out that we are expecting our first child. We couldn't be more thrilled! In an attempt to be proactive, I called Hiawatha Day School right away to see if there would be an opening for our newborn following my maternity leave, and if so, if we could schedule a tour/visit of their facility. I've called numerous times and left numerous messages with this simple request as an interested parent, and I have heard absolutely nothing back. I continue to be promised that the director will call me, but it's been close to 2 months now with no word at all - she's always out of the office, in a meeting, etc. Every other daycare that I've contacted in town was able to schedule a tour/visit for my husband and I over the phone the first time we called. I am saddened and extremely disappointed that this is how you treat potential clients. After calling again this morning and leaving a message for the 3rd or 4th time, I finally got a call back. I was told, "Scheduling tours/visits hasn't been our focus lately, as this is a busy time of year with graduation, report cards, interviews, etc." Shouldn't potential clients and customer service always be your focus, regardless of the time of year? She followed up by saying that there are no infant openings for next year. It would have been nice if I had been given this important information the very first time I called almost 2 months ago, as making a final decision on where we want to enroll our baby has been delayed waiting to hear back from Hiawthat Day School. At this point, even if there had been an opening, I wouldn't have taken it based on our disappointing experience and interaction with your agency even before walking in the door.
