  We love this baby class! The play structures are great, the class moves at a nice pace, and we love the parachute. The teachers are SO wonderful - we loved how engaging they are, and the singing is so fun for the baby. Teacher Gigi is so great with the kids, my daughter remembers her each class and adores her.

  We’ve had such a great experience at Gymboree. It has been such a special place for me and my son and I have seen him grow so much in confidence and curiosity through the classes. Teacher Heather and Gigi are amazing. They are so kind, patient, and truly great with the kids. You can tell they really care and it makes the classes feel so welcoming and fun. I also really like the no phones policy. It makes the environment feel more present and comfortable knowing everyone is focused on their little ones. We always look forward to going each week and are so happy we found it.

  We have been bringing our 2 sons here for over 2 years. My older son is currently 2.5 and my youngest her son is 15 months. We started each of them in the babies class and have moved up as they’ve gotten older. The curriculum is extremely thoughtful and geared toward their developmental ages and milestones. The teachers are fantastic. Not only are they all well-versed in child development but they are extremely connected to the kids and find the perfect balance of developmental fun and safety. Elka brings the most experience and understanding of the Gymboree curriculum. She has great perspective and understanding of the phase we are in with little kids. Gigi brings a wonderful energy to her classes and is always a positive influencer with the kids. Heather is outstanding and is constantly bringing valuable insight into the various neuro-developmental strides our littles are taking. We especially appreciate her adherence to the no phones and photos policy. It gives us the opportunity to let our kids play in a safe space where we can give them our undivided attention. Maura also brings a very special positive energy to class. She gave us great insight when our kids were babies and we were lost on what to do to play with them. My kids light up when they see these adults and it gives me such peace of mind to know I have a place I can bring my kids to practice gross and fine motor skills where they are safe, loved, and challenged. The space is extremely clean. The songs are part of our daily life. Gymboree has been a highlight of my kids’ childhood and our parenthood. Highly recommend.

  We’ve had mixed experiences at Gymboree Play & Music San Mateo. Our son previously attended classes for 1.5 years and had a smooth, positive experience. However, our recent experience with our daughter has been quite different. During multiple classes, we were repeatedly told by the instructor that no photos or videos are allowed—even when we were simply trying to capture a quick moment of our own child. The enforcement felt unusually strict and was brought up frequently enough that it became disruptive and frustrating. We understand and respect the need for privacy and a comfortable environment for all families. That said, many parents naturally want to capture small moments of their child participating, and the way this policy was communicated made the experience feel unnecessarily tense. Overall, the program itself has potential, but the classroom experience would benefit from a more balanced and parent-friendly approach.

  Tina and this location are amazing! Highly recommend for birthday parties, or even some amazing weekend play. Best location around!
