I wanted to share an honest review because I believe feedback is important, especially for a student salon. I arrived before 11:00 a.m. after calling ahead to confirm that arriving before 11 would be fine. Thankfully, my phone automatically records calls because when I arrived, I was told something completely different. The younger instructor at the front (who appeared to be around 19–20 years old) was very nonchalant and unwilling to work with me. It wasn’t until I asked to speak with someone higher up or a manager that the situation began to change. An apology was offered, but it felt more reactive than genuine. On the positive side, my stylist was absolutely wonderful. She was kind, professional, patient, and made me feel comfortable throughout the day. She truly did her best, and I appreciated her attitude and customer service. The place was clean, and the vibe was great! Unfortunately, the hairstyle itself was not what I requested. I asked for stitch braids, but the finished style looked much more like large cornrows. The braids were oversized and because of that a little tight which is alright - but I wasn’t comfortable with them being oversized, I ended up taking them out myself and attempting to fix them About 20 minutes after my appointment had ended. After spending nearly the entire day there—from before 11:00 a.m. until almost 4. I was disappointed that I paid $85 for a style I really can’t keep in. When I asked whether I could return the next day, even if it meant paying a discounted rate or simply having the style adjusted, I was essentially told that’s gonna be a no go! I understand this is a school, and I absolutely expect students to be learning. Because of that, I don’t expect perfection. What I do expect is accountability from the SCHOOL and instructors - when the final result isn’t what was requested. My advice to anyone considering services here is to remember that the quality of the work may vary depending on the student you are assigned. Some experiences will be excellent, while others may not be. More importantly, Note to Universal - everything starts with leadership. The professionalism and attitude of the instructors set the tone for the entire experience, and that was the most disappointing part of my visit. My student was sooo kind! Overall, I left appreciating my stylist as a person, but disappointed with the final hairstyle, the lack of flexibility in resolving the issue and with instructors, and the way my concerns were initially handled. I genuinely hope the school continues to support its students while also placing emphasis on accountability, and customer service. The cherry on top is both times that I asked to speak with management. There was no resolution. Nor were they available. I would definitely give this place to try again because I believe in this school and I believe in supporting!!! - But the lack of accountability is so disheartening From the schools standpoint as well as management. If you read across platforms, there are a few other complaints of similar experiences, Again complaints aren’t driven towards students who are learning.

Rude manager laughed at me for how long ago it’s been since I’ve had a bad experience there and didn’t tell me if he confronted his staff for burning me when she did my hair and she wasn’t remorseful about it either. I thought about coming back if that issue was addressed to her and they know not to make that mistake again but now I won’t be because I don’t know if he confronted her not to do that again. Also I didn’t get an apology either from the manager about that happening to me.
