A gray banner indicates no unusual or suspicious elements were detected in the message, though you should still verify the sender address and source type. A yellow banner signals something unusual about the email that warrants extra attention, such as requests for sensitive information. A red banner indicates the message is likely dangerous, potentially containing brand impersonation, phishing URLs, or attempts to spoof internal company accounts.

When you receive an email with a yellow banner, carefully examine the sender's identity and determine if it's from a trusted source. Exercise caution when clicking any links within the email or opening attachments, as these could potentially contain security threats.

For emails with red banners, you can typically delete the message and proceed with your day. These emails are still delivered despite being flagged as dangerous because they provide educational opportunities for recognizing characteristics of potentially harmful communications.

The "Report This Email" link located in the bottom-right corner of each banner allows you to provide feedback on Email Protect's classification. Clicking this link directs you to a web form where you can indicate if the message is safe, spam, or phishing, and add comments about your assessment. Your feedback helps improve Email Protect's prediction accuracy, and submissions are manually reviewed to enhance the system's overall security effectiveness.

GCBS Email Protect includes real-time link verification capabilities. When this feature is activated and you click links in emails with yellow or red banners, you'll be directed to a page reaffirming that the message was flagged as unusual or suspicious. Additionally, if a link in an email with a gray banner is later identified as malicious, Email Protect's real-time check will display a blocker page alerting you to the potential danger when clicked.
