I went to Liz B Collective from 5th avenue because Liz B Collectives cancellation policy felt more ethical. I had a gloss and a cut 2 months previous to this appointment and everything was healthy just needed a trim. I had decided I wanted some color being that I was celebrating my anniversary with my husband so I scheduled a consult with Jenelle before hand and to figure out my look and how to achieve it on my fine but healthy hair. During this appointment it was extensively discussed how fine my hair is and Jenelle assured me she could help me achieve the look I needed and even talked me into doing a K18 treatment to minimize damage. During the actual hair appointment she chemically burned my hair and then mechanically sheared it when she brushed from the root to the end through dry cracked product on teased hair. (She left the product on a long time to the point where my hair was dry and the product was flaking all over the black gown. After she washed my hair she blew it out taking tiny sections out and angling the chair partially away from the mirror. Then curled the hair to make it look nice. You can imagine my dismay 48 hours later when I washed my hair and found split ends all over the place, my hair was bone dry and had no glide, and there were sections that were bristly like straw. When I called back in to the salon they said they’d do an appointment to assess the damage. Brinley gave me a K18 treatment, a gloss(to darken the hair slightly to draw your eyes from all the split ends), and cut out the worst of the damage. Then said she would not blow dry my hair or curl and that I shouldn’t use any hot tools to minimize any further damage to my hair. When I spoke with the manager Brittany, she said they would give me a refund of $180 dollars for the highlight service alone because her stylist didn’t do all of it wrong and because they had done the k18 treatment and cut out the worst of the damage. In my opinion the damage the bad highlight caused, negated any of the benefit of the cut, k18, and gloss. The manager Emilee made me feel like I was someone trying to make a buck off of their company which is insulting being that this is the first time I’ve ever had a complaint with any salon I’ve ever gone to(I’m 40 years old that’s a lot of salons) In the end I walked into Bethany’s salon with healthy hair and walked out after all the appointments with hair that is damaged and ugly. I thought at the very least being that they burned the hair off of my head they’d offer a full refund, but it is very clear to me now that Bethany only cares about money and doing the bare minimum necessary to keep her business from looking bad. It’s devastating in your 40s to have this kind of hair loss and damage but then to have to pay $340 for it is even more devastating. We’ll see if that $180 refund makes it my way. I haven’t even received it yet. It’s clear that some of Bethany’s stylists are very good at what they do but what does any of that matter if the owner has a skewed perception of integrity? I thought a nice salon like this would care more for their clients but that is most certainly not the case. The first picture is my hair before I got my service at Liz B Collective, all the pictures after are the damage that remained after the emergency repair appointment. Excuse me while gory myself to sleep with my poodle hair.

Liz B is one of the most welcoming and warm places I have been. Small businesses supporting other small businesses. Everyone I have met is truly the best people! Everyone feels welcome here. The blonde front desk girl, love her!

Got a women’s cut with the owner, Bethany, and it was such a great experience! Bethany actively listened to my hair wants and needs, had a bubbly and friendly personality, and did such a fantastic job. Will definitely be returning!

-Clean, appealing lobby. -Good parking space. -Friendly employees. -Offered beverages (I already brought my own water, otherwise I'd have accepted a nice beeverage). -Janelle cares about what you want, and shows you how to style your hair to look like the photo reference you showed her. She's very friendly, and easy to speak to. -I can't speak for everyone else's work, as my hair has not been serviced by them. But they were all super friendly folks. My cousin has been getting his hair cut by Jess for years now and won't go anywhere else. I don't get my hair done regularly, and my hair used to go most of the way down my back and was all dead and split, think like the straw on the end of a witch's broom. And since I'm going to a wedding next week, I was unsure of where to get a complete overhaul of my hair done. My Gram recommended this lovely establishment, and now I will too. My boyfriend got canceled on by his previous regular hair stylist less than a week before the wedding that he's a groomsman in, and I recommended he try this place, because I really enjoyed my experience. He said that Gloria did a very good job with his haircut as well. All in all, I recommend this establishment for just an overall lovely and painless experience. Thanks for fixing my hair, y'all!
