Nicole, the owner of NikkiSnips, has been my stylist for over 15 years. I’ve also had the opportunity to occasionally have gotten my hair done by almost every other stylist in the salon if Nicole of unavailable. Due to a chronic illness, I’m not always able to plan or schedule my appointments in advance. But Nicole always accommodates me and my limitations. She genuinely cares about her clients…I can’t tell you how many times she’s told me: “We’ve got you girl!” It’s such a relief to know there’s a place I can go when I’m not feeling my best and leave feeling beautiful and good about myself despite my health struggles. And every other stylist embodies the same positive, supportive attitude. Being barely 5ft, the adjustable sink with a reclining option makes getting my hair washed so much more comfortable than other salons. The salon is always filled with laughter and a joyful atmosphere too! Nicole gave my son his first official haircut when he was 3 and he’s getting ready to go off to his freshman year of college!!…and Nicole is still his stylist as well! If that doesn’t speak to Nicole’s TALENT, compassion, fun, and joyful personality…I don’t know what does!! I can’t recommend NikkiSnips enough!!!
I’m very disappointed with my experience. While I’m satisfied with the overall base color, the highlights came out extremely uneven, some are chunky, some are streaky, and most are very orange despite my being charged for toner. The haircut itself is also underwhelming.
I did contact the salon about an hour or so after leaving and they offered to have me return to the same stylist tomorrow for a color correction, which I appreciate. However, after seeing the finished result and knowing the stylist considered it complete, I’m simply not comfortable having the same person correct it. Returning to the salon is also an additional inconvenience for something that should have been addressed before I left. The way my hair was styled when I left made it difficult to see just how uneven the highlights were. Once I got home and moved my hair naturally, I discovered a very large clumpy orange section at the front along with noticeably strange placement.
I don’t expect perfection, and I understand that hair color doesn’t always turn out exactly as planned. But at this price point, I do expect a stylist to recognize when highlights are overly brassy and visibly uneven and address that before sending a client home. Unfortunately, this was not the quality of work I expected for $340 (service +tip)
EDIT: The owner texted me to try to make it right. Since she is on vacation, she said her salon manager would be calling me to fit me into her schedule. By the following afternoon and I had checked both my texts and voicemails and hadn’t received either.
Ironically shortly after I updated this review, received a text from Micheline, then followed by a call from Stephanie at the end of the day. Stephanie insisted she left me 2 voicemails that morning. All I had was a single missed call at 9:20 am from a number I didn’t recognize, no voicemail and no text message. From my perspective, I hadn’t heard anything, and I really wasn’t in the mood to debate what did or didn’t happen.
The fact remains that several hours passed without any communication, so I updated my review to reflect that. Only afterward did I suddenly hear from two people. They offered me an appointment, but between my schedule and the manager’s availability, it wouldn’t have been anytime soon. At this point, I’m honestly just over this experience. As for the missing voicemails, it doesn’t make sense to me because I received calls and texts from Nicole, Micheline, and Katiria without any issues. For whatever reason, Stephanie’s alleged voicemails never came through.
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I can only speak to my own experience.
Whether there was a technical issue or not, I did not receive the voicemail at 9:20am on 7/25. From my perspective I had not been contacted, which is why I updated my review. The manager told me she was off on Wednesday, so my appointment was made for Thursday. There was never any mention of coming in on her day off. The owner was on vacation and not present for any of the above so may want to rethink the integrity of her manager.
While I appreciate that an adjustment was eventually offered, the overall experience from the disappointing results to the communication afterward, left me without confidence in returning. You repeatedly mention the color contract and that my hair had multiple shades before I arrived. You were not there to see that either. My hair was one solid color with 3 inches of natural brown & gray roots. I hadn’t been to a salon in months because my previous stylist passed away. I did not have multiple colors from multiple salons as you stated. It feels like you’re trying to preemptively assign responsibility to me after spending $340 for professional services.
No one is being accused of falsifying logs, documents, contracts, etc. My review reflects my personal experience as a customer and that experience was not a positive one. The proof is in the photos. “There are extremely rare situations where guests and salons are just not a good fit”. Apparently, you just prefer unhappy clients.
