I came to this salon before an event for a simple trim and specifically asked for only the ends to be cleaned up. My hair was below my waist, and the stylist cut far more than I agreed to, leaving it around chest length. Right after, she said, “I’m sorry, I had to,” because my hair was “too dead,” but that should have been discussed before cutting so much off. What made the experience worse was how uncomfortable they made me feel about my hair throughout the appointment. I was repeatedly told I needed expensive products and needed to spend more money on my hair. Advice is one thing, but constantly making negative comments about a client’s hair is unprofessional and unnecessary. I also asked about styling services that were advertised online, but was basically told that styling my hair would be too much work because of how long and thick it is, and that I would require more effort than other clients. I was even told I should go to a Mexican or Dominican hairstylist instead. If your salon advertises styling services, then clients should not be made to feel like a burden for having thick or coarse hair. Not everyone has thin, silky, easy to manage hair, and a professional salon should know how to work with different hair types without making clients feel embarrassed or inconvenient.Overall, I left disappointed with both the haircut and the customer service. I came in asking for a small trim and left with much shorter hair while feeling judged instead of listened to.

I had a very disappointing experience with Sandra at the Great Clips in Nassau Park/East Windsor. My daughter and I switched places because my daughter decided she wanted to go first, and Sandra immediately became rude and agitated. She started speaking angrily in Spanish about us being “a problem,” threw a hairbrush down, and sharply told me to go sit back down when I was only trying to explain how my daughter wanted her haircut. What made the situation more upsetting was the inconsistency — the family before us was standing nearby during their haircut and there was no issue. I don’t understand what caused such an extreme reaction toward us. Sandra then said she felt “uncomfortable,” even though we were calm and simply communicating the haircut request. The entire interaction felt unprofessional, hostile, and unnecessary. A customer should never feel embarrassed or unwelcome while trying to get a simple haircut for their child. I hope management addresses how customers are treated at this location.

The fact that you can put your self on the wait list, and they send text messages, means I can arrive just on time, and not waste time waiting, plus they keep a record of how to cut my hair so I get a very nice cut each time, and the staff is always friendly and efficient. Lew M
