The heat from light of the laser is absorbed by the pigment, or melanin, within the hair shaft. The heat then triggers inflammation in the hair follicle, which causes the follicle to enter its resting, or telogen, phase. While in this phase, the follicle produces no hair. Moles are growths on the skin that are usually brown or black. Moles can appear anywhere on the skin, alone or in groups. How Do I Know if a Mole Is Cancer? Asymmetry. One half of the mole does not match the other half. Border. The border or edges of the mole are ragged, blurred, or irregular. Color. The color of the mole is not the same throughout or has shades of tan, brown, black, blue, white, or red. Diameter. The diameter of a mole is larger than the eraser of a pencil. Evolution. The mole is changing in size, shape, or color. How are Moles Removed? Cutting it off. Skin tags may be snipped off with a scalpel or surgical scissors. Some moles can be "shaved" off flush with the skin. Other moles may have cells that go underneath the skin, so your doctor might make a deeper cut to remove the entire mole and prevent it from growing back. This cut may require stitches. Freezing it with liquid nitrogen. Your doctor will swab or spray a small amount of super-cold liquid nitrogen on the mole or skin tag. You might have a small blister where the mole or skin tag was, but it will heal on its own.
