  I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding the haircuts my two daughters received at the JCPenney salon on September 19 as part of the back-to-school haircut special. Both of my daughters have had their haircuts done at JCPenney before, and I have always had a good experience. That is why I felt comfortable returning to JCPenney for their back-to-school haircuts. Our appointment was at 3:30 PM. Unfortunately, this experience was extremely disappointing. The stylist, MICA, did not properly section either of my daughters’ hair before cutting it. I am not a professional hairstylist, but I do know that hair should be properly sectioned when giving a haircut. I noticed that she was not sectioning their hair, but I trusted that, as a professional stylist, she knew what she was doing. Mica told me that one of the haircuts would be uneven, but that it was the best she could do because of how much my daughter had been moving. I understand that children can move during a haircut, but I expected a professional stylist to know how to work with a child and still provide an acceptable result. I returned to the salon around 7:00 PM to have my youngest daughter’s haircut corrected. Letty was amazing and genuinely did her best to help. Unfortunately, because MICA had already cut the hair so short, there was only so much Letty could do. She was able to improve the haircut, but she could not fully correct it because there was not enough length left to work with. This morning, I noticed that my oldest daughter’s haircut is also extremely uneven. Her hair was not properly sectioned either, and the unevenness is now very noticeable. I want to be very clear that I do NOT want MICA to fix or cut my oldest daughter’s hair again. After this experience, I am not comfortable having her work on my daughter’s hair. If JCPenney offers to correct the haircut, I would only be comfortable having it done by another experienced stylist who can properly assess and correct the haircut. Otherwise, I am requesting a refund for both haircuts. I am extremely disappointed because I trusted JCPenney based on our previous positive experiences. I paid for professional haircuts and expected professional service and results. Instead, I had to return to the salon several hours later to have one haircut corrected, and I have now discovered that my other daughter’s haircut is also noticeably uneven. I want to specifically acknowledge Letty for her professionalism and for doing her best to help correct the situation. My concern is with the original service provided by MICA and the fact that both haircuts were affected by the lack of proper sectioning and technique. I am requesting a refund for both haircuts and would like this matter reviewed by the salon manager or appropriate customer service representative. I would appreciate a response regarding how JCPenney plans to resolve this situation. Thank you.

  I booked myself for a nape cut, and my son (7) for a side and back fade with their back to school special. Their special said that it included a wash, and cut. My son's hair is in individual braids, and they said it would not be a problem to get him washed. My son was serviced by Carmen. Initially she did not fade his hair properly, and he corrected her. When I went to get him from his chair, the neck was not cleaned up at all and I had to get her to go back and fix that as well. When I asked her if she was going to wash him, she said that it was not included. I went to the register, and asked them if the wash was included, they confirmed again, and told Carmen that she needed to wash his hair. I kid you not...before I even finished paying, my son's "wash" was complete, and his hair was DRIPPING wet. It felt as though she didn't want to touch him. HIs cut was decent enough for $12 but it was so frustrating to keep sending him back, and to send a small child outside with wet hair. I wish I had not already paid...and TIPPED her before I saw how she sent him out. My one star is ONLY for Carmen at the Salinas salon, everyone else was great Cora at the front, and Monica who did my nape cut, I have ZERO complaints.

  Today my children had an appointment and when it was there turn no one wanted to cut there hair they said they were busy but they were using there phone never again going back.

  The customer service provided is subpar, characterized by a lack of communication and expertise in hair cutting. The prices are excessive, and the quality of the haircuts is unsatisfactory. As a woman who has experienced these issues, I urge the manager to take immediate action to rectify the situation. When clients arrive, the barber should be present well before the scheduled time and ensure that they are well-groomed and prepared.
