This was my first Sephora experience, and unfortunately it will also be my last. I spent over $1,000 on luxury beauty products and expected at minimum a respectful and welcoming customer experience. Instead, the manager Amanda was extremely rude, cold, dismissive, and unprofessional during the interaction.
What shocked me most was the attitude over something as simple as a small makeup shopping bag. I have honestly never experienced this level of stinginess and unpleasant behavior while making such a large purchase. The entire interaction felt uncomfortable, unfriendly, and unnecessarily hostile.
For comparison, I visited MAC the same day, spent only a small fraction of that amount, and received outstanding customer service — kindness, professionalism, beautiful packaging, generous samples, gifts, and genuine appreciation for the customer.
I have also consistently received exceptional customer service at Nordstrom for years, where customers are treated with respect and warmth, especially when purchasing luxury beauty products.
Luxury retail is not just about selling makeup. Customer experience matters. Unfortunately, this Sephora location completely failed in that regard.
