  Got a regular oil change and tire rotation done for my nearly 200k mile Lexus. Initial maintenance was fantastic. Fast, good price, friendly workers. They recommended halfway through the work that I get a power steering fluid flush done, which I declined since money is tight right now and it's something I know how to do on my own. They took the decline respectfully and didn't try to hassle me into paying for more work, which I appreciated. However the problem started on my way back home. My check engine light, which had not been on previously, came on about twenty minutes after I left. I immediately turned the car around and headed back, assuming it was a small error, such as a sensor got dirty during the oil change or something. No big deal! I figured they'd take care of it. I've been taking my car to an NTB down in North Carolina regularly for tire maintenance. The shop down there is fantastic, so I felt I could trust the company's staff to take care of any extra issues that may have been caused by their work. However, when they got the code for my car, they didn't give me the correct information about the error. The code was p0157, which is the code for the oxygen sensor on bank 2, sensor 2. My phone was about to die at the time so I couldn't look that up in the moment, and I sure wish I had. They told me correctly that it was an oxygen sensor error, but they said they couldn't tell which sensor caused it (which a quick Google search and text to my mechanic friend back home afterwards proved was incorrect. The code said exactly which sensor got tripped.) The gentleman behind the counter gave me an estimated cost of repair which was exponentially higher than anything I can afford at the moment. I panicked at the time because, like I said, money is extremely tight for me. If my car needed an expensive repair to keep running, I'd be in real trouble. The man reassured me that it was not an immediate issue and that the costly repair was not necessarily needed. My mechanic friend later confirmed this is true. However, when I asked whether or not something the NTB crew did during the original maintenance appointment could have caused the error, the gentleman got very defensive and insisted that wasn't the case. I felt like I had committed a faux pas by insinuating they damaged my vehicle so I dropped that line of questioning. The man told me what was essentially his home remedy to potentially fix the issue, and the crew sent me on my way. When I got home and charged my phone, I immediately reached out to my friend back home and figured out what was going on. Two seconds of looking up the code on Google showed what the error was, and my friend confirmed that this is an extremely common error to come up on Lexus cars after oil changes. All it was was that the oil sensor got dirty during the fluid change. The first result on Google even specified that old Lexus and Toyota models are particularly susceptible to this issue because of their layout. My friend hoped on Facetime with me and we fixed the issue in ten minutes. I don't understand why this simple solution didn't seem to occur to the NTB crew. It was literally just a sensor that got dirty during their work. My frustration with NTB comes from how they responded to the issue. They immediately jumped to the worst case scenario with the sensor and got very defensive when I brought up that something may have happened during the oil change, especially since the light came on right after they finished. If they had taken a moment to consider whether or not there was even the slightest chance of an error on their part, I don't doubt they would have figured out the issue immediately. The whole situation really soured what was initially a five-star routine maintenance appointment. I honestly can't say I'll be returning here in the future. I strongly encourage anyone who patrons this establishment to do their own research on common issues with their vehicle before taking what they say at face value like I did
