Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Somerset, PA is NOT a moral renting business, and the staff are very curt when dealing with customers.
My experience is long, but I will try to highlight the main points:
I was in an accident in June of 2026, not at fault, and the person at fault insurer (Allstate), setup the rental with Enterprise.
When I arrived in the afternoon, 3:45pm, the sales person, Jacob, was obviously ready to leave for the day, and wanted to speed my transaction along. In doing that he did NOT review all of the details of my rental or that Allstate was not paying for the no-fault insurance, nor was I given the option to buy it. Instead I was asked for my driver's license and proof of insurance. He asked me to sign the rental agreement, did not go over it with me, handed me the keys, walked out to the car, started it and said goodbye. He did NOT go over the car or give me an opportunity to review any previous damage to the car, (of which I found lots).
The car wreaked of cigarette smoke, the headliner had dirt stains on it, the passenger car seat had a white stain on it, the passenger front wheel had curb rash, and the hood of the car had sticker residue on it.
Additionally the car had a mechanical issue with the electronic power steering, and it would make a loud squealing noise when it was first started in the morning.
I had the car for several weeks, until my vehicle was repaired. However, upon returning the rental vehicle, I unfortunately had an unavoidable low-speed collision with a young fawn (deer). This broke 2 plastic parts on the car; a plastic piece directly under the headlamp and the corner piece of the bumper.
When I returned the vehicle to the Somerset location, I was greeted by a new person, Tony. I explained to Tony that I was in an unavoidable accident with a deer, on my way to return the vehicle. Tony did not ask if I was okay nor did he ask about the accident or want any further details. The ONLY thing that Tony was concerned with was that I had to pay my insurance deductible right NOW.
That was when I found out that Allstate did not opt for the no-fault insurance from Enterprise and that I had not been given the option to buy when I picked up the car. I asked Tony if we could review the agreement; however, conveniently the Enterprise "tablets" were having technical difficulties and he couldn't pull up the agreement via any other methods, and stated that my agreement was paper only since that is was how Jacob processed my rental.
I called my insurance company to file the claim, and the representative also stated that it was odd that Enterprise wanted to collect the deductible up-front and before any estimates or repairs had been completed. Tony argued with my insurance representative and insisted this was corporate policy.
Seeing the situation that I was in, and that I just wanted to move on from this, I paid the deductible and moved on.
I recently received the invoice on what it would cost to repair the rental vehicle, and the total was $2,930.99 before discounts or any admin fees, loss of service fees, sublet fees, or diminished value fees. I have posted a picture of the damage to that car, you can be the judge of whether $2,920.99 of damage was done.
Since this experience I have had the time to consider if I would ever do business with Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Somerset, PA, and I absolutely would NOT and I recommend that if you do, you make sure that EVERY detail is reviewed before signing anything.
Additionally, do NOT accept a car if the rental person can't even take the time to go over any existing flaws or damage that occurred before your rental starts.
