I was about 50 miles from my destination on a Sunday when my car battery died. After getting it tested and confirmed that it needed replacement, I first went to AutoZone down the street. I was prepared to spend nearly $300 on a new battery, only to be told they wouldn’t install it because there was a basic plastic cover and bracket over the battery — literally a couple of screws. I was told it was “company policy.” Needless to say, that left me in a terrible spot. So I drove down the street to Advance Auto Parts, and the experience could not have been more different. I worked with Keith, who was AWESOME. I explained what had just happened at AutoZone, and even they had to laugh at how ridiculous the situation was. Keith didn’t make excuses or act like helping me was an inconvenience. He was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely willing to help. He took care of the battery installation without making a big production out of a simple cover and bracket, and I was happily on my way. I was more than happy to give Advance Auto Parts the nearly $300 sale that AutoZone turned away. This is exactly what customer service is supposed to look like. When someone comes into your store stranded away from home and needs help, you find a reasonable way to help them. Keith did exactly that, and I greatly appreciate it. Afterward, I read through a number of reviews for this location and saw many other customers mentioning the outstanding service here. Now I understand why. AutoZone lost my business today, and Advance Auto Parts gained it going forward. I know where I’ll be coming first the next time I need a battery, parts, or help with my vehicle. Thank you, Keith, for turning a very frustrating Sunday into a positive experience.
