  I had a terrible experience with the National Car Rental in the Reading Airport. I rented a car in advance on booking.com to pick up at the airport. When I arrived they had given my car to someone else, informed me that there were no other cars available, and said sorry nothing I can do. So I drove all the way back home and called National four different times!!!! The first two times they told me that it was unacceptable and they would escalate the issue and I should receive a call back. I never got a call back. I called back later and was disconnected half way through the conversation. The fourth time I called I was told they do have cars and they changed my reservation to 2pm. I told the gentleman on the phone that the guy at Reading said he has no cars, and can I pick up a car in Lancaster instead. He told me they do have cars at Reading, and if I want to pick up a car at Lancaster Airport it would cost me more. By this time National had wasted over two hours of my life (did I mention this all happened on my sons birthday, or that I was leaving for trip the next day at 6am and absolutely needed a car!!!!). So I told him no, I want to pick up the car in Lancaster for the same price, he told me that is not possible. So I drove all the way back to Reading to see if they would have a car for my new 2pm reservation. I got there and the booth was dark, the employee had left for the day before 2pm on a Friday. I called a fifth time in the parking lot and asked to speak to a manager. I got Anthony, a very good man who knows how to do his job!! I like Anthony!!! I emotionally explained the situation (Not something I'm proud of but I seem to cry when frustrated). He told me I can pick up a car in Lancaster for the price I was already quoted. I drove from Reading to Lancaster and picked up my car just after 4pm. Four hours wasted, three trips to airports wasted, and only one hour left before they closed (unless you work at Reading??) and I would have been out of luck for my trip. (Lancaster airport guy was very nice and helpful, he gave me $30 off my rental for having me wait 10 minutes at Lancaster). Very ironic after my 4 hour wait for Reading and getting a call back from anyone.

  I have been a National Rental - Emerald member since 2008. Due to consistent over-charges from the Reading, PA, branch and unprofessional services, I will no longer be using National Rental. It's unfortunate that National Rental lost a long term customer who has monthly repeat business.

  The folks at the Reading (RDG) airport National are Great! I recommend renting from there.

  The car was ready on time and the transaction went smoothly. It preformed flawlessly during my two week rental. I would have rated 5 stars except it was not cleaned properly and the gas tank, which should have been full had only 1/3 remaining. I returned the car with a full tank and reimbursement for the missing gas was not possible.
