  As a local auto repair shop owner, I’ve used this specific location as my primary parts supplier for nearly 15 years. They are just a five-minute walk from my shop, and I have always happily paid slightly higher prices just for the convenience and what I thought was a solid working relationship. Over the years, my business has spent north of $210,000 at this store alone, not even counting the countless retail customers I’ve directed their way. That loyalty ends today. ​Recently, I was at the store matching up parts for a box truck when the staff asked me to help them out with a task. Because of our long history, I gladly stepped in to assist. The task involved stressed metal that had undergone rapid heating and cooling—something anyone who has turned wrenches for years knows is a recipe for a physical reaction. When the metal inevitably reacted, an employee completely lost his temper and started yelling and screaming at me. ​He then stormed outside with his girlfriend to call his boss, spinning a completely false narrative to try and get me removed without even speaking to me. While I was inside peacefully finishing up a quote with another helpful employee, the aggressor stormed back inside like an angry toddler and threatened to call the cops if I didn't leave. I wrapped up my business and left to avoid escalating his tantrum. ​The worst part of this entire situation is the store management. I went back the following day to discuss the incident with the store manager, only to be completely brushed off. He told me, "I already heard everyone’s story"—which is funny, considering he hadn't spoken a single word to me about it. He tried to sweep the entire altercation under the rug. It wasn't until someone else contacted the District Manager and opened a ticket that it finally came to light. Even then, the manager just got angry at the rest of the staff, and the hostile employee received nothing more than a slap on the wrist. ​There was no apology and zero effort to make things right. You do not treat a long-standing, quarter-million-dollar commercial account this way. I have officially moved my home store to the Tarentum Bridge location, but given the complete lack of accountability here, I doubt I’ll ever set foot in another Advance Auto Parts again. Take your business to a parts store that actually respects its customers.

  Derrick Shaffer @ store #5839 is awesome and you need more employees like him!!! He and Scott Morlan went above and beyond with their customer service!!! Both men were friendly and helpful!! I used to be a auto zone customer but after dealing with Derrick and the workers at the 5839 location, I will never go back to auto zone and will always go to Advanced!!! Thank you guys so much for your help!!!
