Between walking with me back and forth from their store to the gas station, helping me with opinions, borrowing tools and just their kindness, I couldn’t be more grateful. Without them I would have needed a tow, mechanic and missed days off of work. Along with them and the help from a couple local gentlemen’s stopping by while I was working on the vehicle, things went from hopeless to home. After removing and replacing multiple things in the vehicle and learning the whole time, I was able to get it running again and better than ever. I just can’t thank these guys enough, especially Mike, Justin and one other gentleman that helped me the night before when it broke down right next to closing time. Thank you Advance Auto for hiring decent people who actually care about their customers. Changed me from an occasional customer to a long time and return customer with one event because of your employees.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
