Ignition interlock device installations usually take 1-2 hours at your local Official Intoxalock Location, depending on the make and model of your vehicle. You can either wait for the installation to be complete in a waiting area or can drop off your vehicle for pick-up later.

Depending on which state you live in, you will need to have your device calibrated every 30 to 180 days. These calibrations make sure your device accurately reads and records your breath alcohol concentration with every sample you provide.

Removing your ignition interlock or breathalyzer device is easy. Your installer will remove the device and will mail it back to Intoxalock for you. It's important that only your Official Intoxalock installer disconnect your ignition interlock device.

Don't ever use this place. Just paid for a device for a year! Penndot told me they stopped my licenses in Jan. They never tell intoxalock. None of them talk. Well I had it in for a year, paid for a year and only 6 month counted!? Imagine driving around for a whole year, then calling all happy to have it removed. Only to be told nope you only served 6 Months of it. Don't ever use this place. Go with whatever other blow company you can. I have v n told them I would keep it in my car for another 6 months. So pretty much intoxalock robbed me for 6 months worth of services! Caliberations, resets and all! Why are they here?

One of the very few honest auto shop owners I have encountered. I absolutely will refer anyone who ants good quality service stop by Carl's auto. Stay blessed. My review is only in regards to the auto shop and not for intoxaloc in any way shape or form. This company is garbage and rip offs. Ask for another dui company other than intoxaloc.

The installer at this location was awesome! Very thorough and went through tons of information with me and showed me how to use the device. They were more helpful and provided more information than the person i worked with to get this all set up. Will continue to use this location through this whole process.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.

What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
