  We reserved a certain vehicle in MAY for a trip in September. When we tried to prepay online they said it was the wrong card type, I called and the office said it was probably an error and they would run our card when we got there to pick up the vehicle. No problem. We were informed upon arrival that the model we reserved several months in advance wasn’t available. Okay, not great but we can settle on something else. Then they informed us that they can only accept major credit cards for certain vehicles. So we once again settle on a van so we can pay with our debit card. Then it got weird. They would not accept a debit card unless we also presented several other forms of ID. They asked for pay stubs! Never in my life have I had to show this amount of information just to rent a car. I’ve rented from this exact store several times on a debit card with zero issues. Even the insurance wasn’t good enough because my husband was not the primary holder? He was a listed insured driver. There was several thousand dollars in the account, money was not an issue. It was like they had no interest in renting to us. We’re small business owners, we don’t have pay stubs and I don’t walk around with our prior year taxes. We worked hard to pay off our credit cards and vowed never to open another one. And the customer service was abysmal - they offered no other options, no apologies, they said they called us several times but in reality they called once, two weeks ago. They were incredibly dismissive. I felt like I was being profiled, like I wasn’t good enough to rent a used van for a few days because I refuse to own a credit card. I left the office before an argument started. I’ve opened bank accounts with less personal information than these people asked for. I miss the days of private car rental places, unfortunately chains like this have put them all out of business. Truly a shame. Absolutely abysmal experience. Avoid the Honesdale branch.

  Give them zero stars if I could. Multiple vehicles with mechanical faults. They gave me a vehicle with bald tires one rental, got stuck in driveway, had to have it tow materd outta there, also rented a humongous monster truck that had mechanical faults, they were just waiting to give me that one Weren’t they? You don’t give me a monster truck you give me a sedan. Oh yeah I was their opportunity to save mechanical repairs. GET IT STRAIGT PRONTO WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY EXTRA ON MY INSURANCE Just cause careless management sees an opportunity every time i rent. Can you please remedy this, call State Farm, say sorry for renting.a vehicle with mechanical issues so I don’t have to pay extra money, yall endangered me by giving me a bad vehicle. I’m trying to be as fair as possible here.
