I'm a big fan of writing great reviews. I try to be understanding when I get less than expected service. Today I was trying to return a new battery, I was greeted pleasantly and the associate even directed me to the closest register as this thing is heavy. He ran a few tests on it and it passed. I explained I never used it because the car has bigger issues. As he started to explain if it went into the car it can't be returned, another very rude associate jumped in and accused me of just buying it to get my car to the shop and fraudulently wanting to return after it served my needs and he turned and walked away. I was very upset at being accused of lying and fraud. I asked the very nice and helpful if that was the manager and he said yes. I was shocked and confused why he even came over to our interaction, why he felt the need to escalating it, never identifying himself and walking off. I'm sorry I didn't get any names I felt it better to leave before I made thing worse. I'm giving 2 stars because of the great service I receive purchasing the battery and also the great service I received by the first associate I met today. But I have too many choices where to buy, including online, to ever shop here again.

I had the best experience at the Collingdale Advance Auto Parts Yasmeen and Daron were the best help. I had no clue what to get as far as my batter they both recommended the best battery with the best warranty they could offer. I would always come back to this location for their fabulous customer species and genuine recommendation. Yasmeen was so sweet and helpful and so was Daron. Job well done.

I've had two separate unfriendly interactions while shopping at this store. The first time was to buy a product for my car, the man who was working that day tried to up-charge me by claiming they did not have what I needed in stock and that I would have to buy the pricier one, I went to a different store and they had exactly what I wanted for an affordable price. It turns out I did not need that product for my car and I went back to this store to return it and that same man complained that he just did four other returns and that he basically did not want to do it and that he does understand why everyone wants to come this store to return products, and that I would have to go to a different store to do the return. I will not be returning to this store due to poor customer service.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?
Expand FAQ item
Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
