Ignition interlock device installations usually take 1-2 hours at your local Official Intoxalock Location, depending on the make and model of your vehicle. You can either wait for the installation to be complete in a waiting area or can drop off your vehicle for pick-up later.

Depending on which state you live in, you will need to have your device calibrated every 30 to 180 days. These calibrations make sure your device accurately reads and records your breath alcohol concentration with every sample you provide.

Removing your ignition interlock or breathalyzer device is easy. Your installer will remove the device and will mail it back to Intoxalock for you. It's important that only your Official Intoxalock installer disconnect your ignition interlock device.

I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received from this interlock service. After losing my loved one, I expected some basic compassion and understanding, but instead, the experience has been frustrating and extremely difficult. I requested that they back-pay/reimburse the charges related to my loved one’s passing, but they refused to do so. What makes the situation even worse is that for the past two months, I have repeatedly tried to speak with a manager, and they have been unable or unwilling to connect me with one. Having to repeatedly explain the situation and still not be given an opportunity to speak with someone in management has added unnecessary stress during an already painful time. I understand that businesses have policies, but there should also be compassion and a willingness to work with families after the loss of a loved one. Unfortunately, I have not experienced that from this company. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this interlock service to anyone looking for professional, and responsive customer service.

Paradise village is great at what they do, for steros, would not recommend, about 2 months after the install on my new to me truck my transmission range sensor went completely out, truck wouldn’t starry was out of a vehicle for months and after $1,600 fix at a auto shop. The auto shop said this wasn’t the first or last time my truck would have something wrong with it, and they daid it’s because the communication between the interlock and my trucks computer(2017 f150) and that it would be that way until the interlock is out and would have minor electronically problems until I was to replace the wire that Paradise Village taped into and that’s another $1,000-$1,600 fix. So no I do not recommend paradise village for interlock install

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.

What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
