Long story short: I went to a terrible transmission shop before this one and they said I needed a $6,000 new transmission and this shop saved me $5,500. The full story of below Full story: I went to another transmission shop in town because my car was having a weird sound in the transmission. It was driving perfectly fine but was just having a weird sound when I was backing up and occasionally when I was driving but not all the time. It would sometimes go away. I asked another shop, not this one, but I asked this other shop to drop the pan and change the transmission fluid and the filter just in case. I explained this to the shop maybe 3 or 4 times and I explained that it just makes sense to me. If the transmission is bad, even if you did drain the fluid and something bad happened, that's fine. If it's bad it's already bad and I'm okay with that. But I wanted this other shop to change the filter and even clean out a little bit of sludge around the pan just in case. So I could either give the transmission a lot more life or maybe I would find out I do need a new transmission for sure. Instead, they just did a drain and fill, they didn't consult me, so instead of doing what I requested, they just told me they wanted to change the fluid. What they didn't realize was I already did that previously so they were basically wasting my time and my money. The whole purpose of them doing all this was so that they could change the filter just in case and check a little bit deeper by dropping the pan. But this other shop was too lazy to do that. I brought my van to this shop D.L Transmissions and I explained my situation and I explained what I wanted them to do. They told me that they really suggested just taking a quick look at it first and that they would do it for free and the person on the phone was super nice. After I brought it in, the guy who actually works on the transmissions took a little bit of time to ask me questions. The other shop said there was a bearing that was bad in the transmission but they didn't even ask me any questions. This guy actually asked me questions and when he realized that the noise wasn't always happening, that just doesn't sound like a bearing. He actually suggested exactly what I wanted to do, he suggested dropping the pan so they could get a deeper look at things and also changing the filter just in case. They did have to get an oem Toyota filter but they actually recommended an entire transmission flush rather than just a normal drain and fill. A lot of less experienced to shops would just avoid the transmission flush on a higher mileage vehicle or they would just be afraid that the customer would come back and blame the shop or something, so even though it's definitely in the best interest of a lot of older vehicles, a lot of shops just avoid these flushes entirely. But what I loved about the shop was that they weren't afraid to do what was best for me but they also didn't just do it without my permission. The first shop did things I did not tell them to do and they didn't do what I requested and without even checking with me they changed all the plans. And they didn't even ask me questions and they diagnosed my vehicle without even asking basic questions. The bottom line is they just wanted to sell me a $6,000 transmission. But D.L Transmissions was so different. They told me ahead of time that a lot of noises just happen, and that the car could last a very long time with the transmission it has. They recommended doing the work that isn't easy for them, like dropping the pan, but they were willing to do that work even if it didn't get them a new sale or something. Those jobs are a little bit messy but they still agreed to do it. At the end of the day they did what was best for my vehicle. My car has 200,000 mi but it's a Toyota sienna and I think it will last a very long time. But even if the transmission goes out in 10,000 mi I will be very happy that the shop didn't just do the bare minimum. They did everything they could to extend the life of my transmission. I'm very grateful

PHENOMENAL is the word my skeptical husband used to describe how Darryl fixed my 2012 Impala! The whole experience to D.L. Transmissions was fast, easy, and friendly. Easy to find, the receptionists were friendly, and Darryl personally took time to explain to us his recommendations. We are highly pleased with our D.L. Transmissions experience and would highly recommend them.

Took my 14 Silverado 1500 in for a flush, filter, and thermostat bypass. Great and fun staff, their knowledge made this transaction quick and painless. I will be back in 30k miles! Normal trans temp for drive home is 188 degrees after bypass 128 degrees!!

I have shared my experience with MoDot Co-workers. You were courteous, timely in a rough situation. My daughter walked to work during a transmission fail for a month before I found D&L. I live 3 hours away so this was tricky. Thank you all for the communication and transparency. Jerry Moore. 👍
