Our pontoon cover was torn, missing snaps, and disintegrated thread from the sun. Professional Marine did an amazing job repairing our cover. We cannot even tell where it had been torn. It looks like new. Thank you Professional Marine!
When our boat would not start this spring we called Professional Marine. They came out within the week and correctly diagnosed the problem. They replaced our fuel line and fuel pump and now our boat works perfectly again. They were very professional, and easy to deal with. They did a great job communicating what the problem was and then fixing it. Their prices are very reasonable. I am a very happy customer and will continue to use Professional Marine for all my boat servicing needs
I chose this place because of good reviews, so figured I should share my experience last summer.
1. I was mislead. They told me thy could work on my motor and then backtracked after several days. I don’t think it was intentional, but nonetheless, flat out wrong.
2. I had water in my motor and was told I’d get an update in 24 hrs, I didn’t receive one for 3 days. Not a huge deal, but either they’re not very knowledgeable or they make promises they can’t keep.
3. when I finally I received an email from them with an update it only stated they couldn’t work on my motor. Pretty ridiculous in any scenario to take this long to realize you couldn’t service a motor they very clearly confirmed they could.
4. I told them at least empty the fuel, change the plugs and run diagnostics. They did this for me, at least the plugs and fuel dump.
5. They ended up charging me $1k+ for that work AND told me they had my motor running. When I came to pick it up, the person at the front desk (who had told me they could work on my motor) was defensive and rude and demanded full payment or I couldn’t take my boat. So I paid.
6. Took the boat directly to lake, motor would not fire up. Not even close
7. To wrap this up I went to another shop and the mechanic literally told me I was flat out mislead. There was water in the fuel/water separator and still water in the fuel system. They fixed all the issues and rebuilt my carbs for only $200 more than the ‘work’ Professional Marine did.
They were also extremely unpleasant to deal with after I stated all of this to them. I’m sure they’ll try to get this review wiped, but after several emails they are well aware I’d be sharing my honest experience.
They have plenty of good reviews, so I don’t understand why they couldn’t be more forthcoming about an obvious mistake. They definitely aren’t able to work on anything pre-2000 (which other mechanics assured me was an arbitrary number) so if you have an older motor do not go here. All in all my boat is fine I just lost a couple summer weeks and $1k+ for what amounted to 8 spark plugs and some dumped fuel.
Good luck and happy boating this summer!
