  I went to see Young Washington on July 4th to a packed theater. Excellent movie. Definitely suggest seeing it.

  First time here staff was rude when we told the lady we got mozzarella sticks she says back rudely “well nobody me that so” as there was a big line behind us so we couldn’t stand there and wait paid for the #2 never got all the stuff as we were walking to the theater we saw 2 teenagers come out a different theater and walk into the rated R movie we were seeing and took our seats that we paid for

  I went to enjoy the backrooms movie. It was fine... Other than that, the movies are reasonably priced. I tend to avoid movie theaters due to cost issues and the Cinemark raised my eyebrows because of the affordability. It's great for afternoon shows, as many of the theaters are barren of people.

  I came in at 10 pm to watch a last show, paid almost $20 for refillable popcorn and drink and couldn't get my drink or popcorn refilled. I was told they already threw away the popcorn and the pop heads were soaking in chemicals. When I explained I paid for refills, which is why I paid more money, I was told to come back tomorrow. I think I have the right to get what I paid for, or be reimbursed for what I did not recieve. You should not offer refillable drinks and popcorn if it isnt an option. Very disappointing 😞. The movie, however, was good and I enjoyed watching.

  I am writing to complain about an interaction that occurred at the Sioux Falls Cinemark during an attempt to attend a showing of Backrooms with my 16-year-old sister, her 17-year-old boyfriend, my 24-year-old fiancé, and myself. Upon arrival, theater employee Nora and General Manager Mrs. Hoover immediately questioned my sister because she did not have identification with her. I provided my own identification and explained that I am 24 years old and my sister’s legal guardian. Both employees refused to examine my identification or consider the information I was providing. We also do not look alike because we have different complexions, which may have contributed to their unwillingness to believe that we are siblings. Initially, Mrs. Hoover stated that Cinemark policy required a parent to accompany anyone under 17. I reviewed the policy on the Cinemark website and pointed out that the policy also permits a legal guardian to accompany a minor. Mrs. Hoover then acknowledged that a legal guardian could accompany a minor but continued to refuse to review my identification or consider whether I met that requirement. The Cinemark website does not define what documentation is required to establish guardianship, nor does it specify what proof a legal guardian must provide. Despite my attempts to comply and clarify the situation, I was not given an opportunity to provide any documentation or explanation. I also attempted to take pictures of the employees’ name tags so that I could accurately remember their names when reporting the incident to corporate. However, Nora covered her name tag when I tried to photograph it, making it difficult to document who was involved in the interaction. I requested to speak with a manager above Mrs. Hoover and was told no one was available and that I would need to contact corporate if I wanted to go above her. During this interaction, I called our mother, who confirmed over the phone that I am my sister’s guardian and that she had permission to attend the movie. While I was on the phone, the employees appeared to be laughing and giggling about the situation, which I found unprofessional and disrespectful. Additionally, when I attempted to document the interaction, Nora covered her name tag so that I could not take a picture of it. My concerns are: 1. The employees refused to review my identification or consider information regarding my status as my sister’s guardian. 2. The policy regarding legal guardianship was not clearly explained or consistently applied. 3. The conduct and demeanor displayed by both employees were dismissive, unprofessional, and unnecessarily confrontational. Additionally, because my sister and I are both Hispanic and were treated in a manner that felt markedly hostile from the beginning of the interaction, I am concerned that bias may have played a role in how we were treated. I ask that Cinemark review the incident and determine whether company policies were followed appropriately. I would appreciate a response regarding this matter and clarification of Cinemark’s policy concerning legal guardians accompanying minors to age-restricted films.
