My husband gave me a necklace on our wedding day. This gift held special meaning for me; however, unfortunately, the piece did not suit me, and we went to the store to return it within the legally established period.
At first, the sales associate examined the necklace and suggested that I choose an alternative. While I was looking at other pieces, she assured me that the selected item could be returned without any issues if necessary. However, none of the offered jewelry suited me, and I stated that I would like to return the necklace and choose another piece at a different store.
After that, the sales associate’s position changed abruptly: she began to claim that a return was not possible. At the same time, she spoke Russian fluently and clearly understood that our original intention was to return the item, not to exchange it.
As a reason for the refusal, it was stated that the necklace had allegedly been worn. I strongly disagree with this claim: I tried the piece on only once at home in front of a mirror and immediately put it back carefully. There are no signs of use on the item.
The sales associate then invited a manager, and during our interaction, we were subjected to clear psychological pressure from their side. We were persistently denied a return, despite the fact that 30 days had not yet passed since the purchase, and we were effectively accused of acting in bad faith.
I would also like to note that at another Tiffany & Co. store, we were accommodated without any issues and an exchange was processed. However, at the Aventura Mall location, we were refused, which raises concerns and creates the impression of a lack of consistent service standards.
I would also like to draw attention to the behavior of the manager and the Russian-speaking sales associate. Their manner of communication was rude and discourteous, which is completely unacceptable for a brand of this level.
I am deeply disappointed by this situation. This gift was connected to one of the most important events in my life—my wedding day—and instead of joy, I received an extremely unpleasant experience that spoiled my impression of both the purchase and the brand as a whole.
It is especially disappointing that instead of the high level of service expected from a brand with the reputation and price category of Tiffany & Co., we encountered inappropriate treatment, pressure, and unfounded accusations.
