  On our first night (Wednesday, Aug 12) the CO2 alarm started beeping very loudly at 11 pm. The front desk clerk said it was a bad battery. She said it would be a while as there was no maintenance person on the hotel, and that she couldn't change it. We waited in the lobby. At about 11:30 she said she couldn't reach anyone and would transfer us to another room, but only for the night. The room we were transferred to had avery loud, very windy air conditioner approximately 18 inches from the head of the bed which made sleeping very difficult. The next morning (Thursday, Aug 13) I went to the front desk to ask if the battery had been replaced. They seemed to know nothing about it. The apparent manager was there, and I told him what had happened, and that I felt we were entitled to a discount on our room. He said he would take care of it. The maintenance person finally changed the battery about 8 am. Nothing further was said by the staff. The following morning (Friday, Aug 14) before checking out I asked the front desk clerk if an adjustment had been made to our statement. None had been made. I asked to speak to the manager but was told he was out until the following Monday. I asked that he call me when he was back to work. It's now Wednesday, Aug 19, a week later. No one has reached out to me, no one has apologized, and my statement has not been adjusted.

  Nice room and accommodations. Bed wasn’t the comfiest but not the worst either. Views are amazing. Breakfast is typical hotel breakfast.

  I happen to travel all over the country for business and this has to be my favorite by far. They staff is TOP notch and very professional. They are willing to go out of there way to help any way they can. They get to know there guest and call you by name not because it's there job, but they want you to feel at home. Over all, it was a GENUINE experience and would recommend this Hotel to anyone. Thanks again, Chris Wilcox

  Not your run of the mill Best Western. There are definite vibes of the old late 1800s to early 1900s vacation hotels. Yes there's the typical BW fixtures in the room. But the whole vibe and the excellent customer service makes this a must stay location.

  Best Best Western we have stayed in! Great view and patio overlooking Lake Superior. Rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. Pleasant and helpful staff. Trail along Lake Superior is a plus for walkers, runners and bikers.
