The room was amazing. The employees were great. Very very friendly and the food was good. I was happy with my visit.

I’m pretty picky when it comes to hotels and cleanliness, so I was initially pleased when we arrived and the hotel seemed like a great choice. Unfortunately, our experience quickly changed.
We were directed to the second building, which is part of the hotel. To get there, we were instructed to walk across a freshly paved parking lot. Since we were specifically told to use that route, we assumed the pavement was dry. It wasn’t. By the time we reached the building, all four members of our family had tar splatters covering the backs of our legs and the tops and bottoms of our feet.
When we entered the building, it was immediately apparent that we weren’t the first guests this had happened to. The floors and stairs were covered in footprints and tar splatters. Unfortunately, our room was also particularly messy upon arrival.
The floor had tar spots all over it, but the most concerning part was the bathtub. It had large, black tar splotches throughout it. To me, this was a clear indication that the tub and floors had not been properly cleaned between guests.
What makes this especially frustrating is that the entire situation could likely have been avoided if guests had simply been directed to enter the second building another way or warned that the parking lot was still wet.
Everyone in my family has shoes and pants that were ruined as a result. When we brought this to the attention of the desk attendant, we were basically told, “Yeah, I knew that would happen, but I’m not the owner.”
That response was incredibly disappointing. Accidents can happen, but the lack of warning, the condition of the common areas and room, and the response from staff made this experience very frustrating. It’s a shame because the hotel initially seemed like it was going to be a great choice.

Not quite down with my trip but I have a few comments. Outside looks like a castle, hallways look fancy, room smells heavily like bleach and they are outdated including the microwave and fridge. Staff is friendly. Tv remotes are weird and half of the buttons are not useful.
This hotel is dated, but clean. Rooms are large and provide all the basic amenities. However, what makes this hotel stand out, and brings us back every time we are in the Richmond area, is the staff. Chauna is a treasure. All the staff, Chauna, April, the dinning room and room service staff treat you in a warm welcoming manner, and really listens to and accommodates your needs. There are many good restaurants within walking distance, including a very good Japanese restaurant and Indian restaurant.
