This hotel first off the customer service was just horrible and then to top it off I saw roaches in the room some dead and alive. The room smells like mold. I traveled out here just passing by thinking I would be treated like a human being but was just treated with disappointing rudeness. And to be given a dirty room to sleep in was the cherry on top. I will definitely not be staying here the next time I pass through Giddings Texas.

I pulled into the parking lot. Watched the owner come outside and start yelling at a guy getting out of his car. Blamed the guy for sleeping in his parking lot, called man a freeloader among other terms. I spoke with the man who was yelled at. He didn’t have a reservation, he had parked and was walking inside to inquire. On his walk to the door is when the owner spilled out to confront the man. He had never been there prior. I cancelled my stay right from the parking lot after the owner returned inside to call the police on the guy.
Stay away from this hotel!!!!!!!!! Scariest place in Texas. Dark halls & rooms; scary desk clerks; rooms smell of mildew & they are humid as though the A/C does not work properly. The room furniture is dirty and the lamps are rusty from humidity. They have the hotel locked & only one way in and out & I wonder about safety there. Looks okay on the outside but when you step into the hotel, it's the creepiest place I have seen except for an actual haunted house attraction. Try sleeping in a place like that! We left as soon as it was morning & had more nights booked but we just left!! Hopefully, they won't bother with their dumb AI response because that place is hopeless, I have called Best Western Corporate Office and reported this. We will not stay at Best Western ever ever ever again!
Very strange hotel. We pulled up to the door locked and you had to call the front desk to be let in at 5PM on a Saturday. A very surly check in guy would not let in our ESA dog in after demanding paperwork. As a side note, no idea why W Hotels and the like allow our ESA with open arms and I’m happy to pay what is needed. I booked a non-refundable rate, but I think I am glad we went elsewhere as crime must be a critical problem with doors locked during the day and run down cars in the parking lot. Best to drive on from this one.
Edit: Well, the fact they are not charging me for the night is a huge gesture of goodwill, so no harm, no foul. While they are correct ESA Animals are not required by law to be admitted, having an extra charge or fee would make it easier on folks traveling with pets. Thank you.
It was just a wonky experience from start to finish. First, you have to get let into the building, which isn’t routine for most hotels. I picked up the phone to be let in, and was basically interviewed over the phone as to why I was there. It was just novice-hour from the start.
I finally get let into the building, check in, and go searching for the luggage cart. The one and only broken luggage cart had wheels that functioned about as well as 30 year old casters on a Walmart shopping cart. Everything about it was inconvenient. Warning: moving the luggage cart over 0 mph makes the wheels vibrate violently.
Within minutes after getting to my room (post an 18 hour straight-through drive to get there), my room phone starts blowing up nonstop. After the second call, I answered — it was the front desk asking me to return the cart. Um, yeah, when I unload it and actually have a second to do it. I had literally gotten to my room maybe 5 minutes prior to the phone calls.
There were 3 people in the hotel. Literally 3. Me and 2 other cars in the parking lot…yet oddly, the man working said there were no more rooms available on the nearly empty 3rd floor, AND he put us three tenants practically on top of each other so we could hear everything the room above us was doing.
It was just a super lousy experience overall. Not friendly staff, crappy amenities, cold interactions with the short heavier-set man working there. Definitely not staying at Best Westerns anymore. They were already usually a last choice for me as it is, but I picked this one because it was supposedly the “newest” hotel in the area.
Seriously, just stay in the trailer park directly behind it. Everything about it looked nicer than actually staying at the hotel.
Annnd we await the insincere, zero action response filled with meaningless words, excuses and zero give a crap, from best western staff. I’m excited to see how little they care in their responses. Don’t fail us (yet again) Best Western!! Really make us proud with the worst response you can muster up —come on, you got this!!
