TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE!
Management and customer service at the Mannheim location
I booked here excited to attend the Taste of Chicago event approaching, and booked for July 8th, however due to unfortunate events with my elderly mother who has dementia I was unable to attend.
I called on Saturday July 4th 9am EST to cancel my reservation, well before the July 7th cancelation policy requested date.
Today's customer service and deescalation from the manager himself was atrocious. The management continued to place me on hold, talk over me, called me aggressive, told me I was going to be charged for cancelation as a requirement from upper management and was not able to give me a reason as to why even though I called to cancel days before the cancelation policy date.
He then called the police on me when I tried to get an incident report per my lawyers request in order to move forward with legal action.
It's unfortunate that we have to go to court now over such a small matter, however this business needs to seriously consider their staff, management and and further training
On July 4th when I initially called, the front desk rep who answered the phone was not able to speak English well, and that her management must handle the cancelation, however we took our time to make sure she got my information down and the request to cancel. She let me know she would inform her manager when he was in at 10AM. I let her know it was very important because it must be canceled by a certain date and she assured me it would be done.
Now boom Im being charged over $150 for someone's negligence.
COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. WILL TAKE MY BLACK "AGGRESIVE" DOLLARS ELSEWHERE
+ Overall fine room, comfy bed, and quiet.
- a few small roaches in the bathroom at night.
- Displayed price is very misleading. $110 weekday room rate ended up at $270 after fees, tax, and parking. Valet parking is actually the best option. Self park nearby is $35/nightly with NO in-out privilege.

Second time at this hotel and was mainly drawn back because of the location and it's proximity to Grant Park. This hotel is a great choice if you're sightseeing in Chicago as it is right across the street from Grant Park which has many attractions such as the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Aldler Planetarium. This visit however the staff were very helpful and accommodating, particularly Shaniya, they really made me feel welcome and cared for when I arrived to check in.
Were it not for the good location - I’d be hard pressed to give even a two ** feedback
Felt like a European Hostel without the flair and upbeat atmosphere
Rooms are bleak - old - outdated - and still have the hangers from the 60’s-70s - those you cannot take home because they don’t have a “hook!” - whose idea was that anyway - at any time!!!
But seriously - very disappointing / recommend to spend bit bit more and get a more modern, better alternative - ok for one night (at best!!!) yeah - need to be honest

Good location for most of the museums, bus line, parks. Quiet. French backery accessible from the lobby with a discount.
Negatively, parking garage was full when we arrived...probably due to a concert nearby. Parked 3 blocks down for 10 dollars cheaper.
