On July 3, 2026, my father-in-law checked into an accessible room at your Best Western hotel. During check-in, the front desk employee informed us that anyone staying on the property would need to provide identification so a copy could be made. I explained that I was not staying at the hotel, and she responded that my ID was not needed. I also informed her that my significant other, other family members, and I would be visiting my father-in-law the following day.
On July 4, 2026, we visited my father-in-law and went to the pool area. While we were there, the front desk employee, Jada, approached us in a very rude and unprofessional manner. She told us that we were not allowed to use the pool and that we could not use any of the hotel's amenities or eat the complimentary breakfast I replied to her and informed her we didn’t eat anything from their hotel and wasn’t I actually brought him breakfast yesterday so he wouldn’t have to chance waking up there. She made it seem as if we were homeless which was such an embarrassment when others were in the pool. I made food and had three take out plates I asked Maggie the other front desk employee could I warm the food she stated yes shortly after that Jada came being nasty. There was a kid in the pool that was also following rules as us but she didn’t even ask him his age because the pool does have rules of age restrictions and he didn’t look 12 years old he looked to be about 10 or 11.
I understand that hotels have policies regarding guests and the use of amenities. However, the way we were treated was disrespectful and lacked professionalism. We were never informed during check-in that visitors would not be permitted to accompany a registered guest to the pool or that there were restrictions on visiting him. Instead of politely explaining the hotel's policy, the employee's attitude made us feel unwelcome and embarrassed.
I would appreciate a review of this situation, clarification of the hotel's visitor policy, and a response regarding how this matter will be addressed. I hope future guests and their families are treated with courtesy and respect. We were stereotyped at BEST WESTERN HOTEL ON US 1 in PORT ST LUCIE FL. Thank you for ruin our visit to a guest that required accessibility which we were making sure we visit him to show him we care. We I’m just disturbed by how we were treated I guess Ebony people are always a target. Jada said she wanted a copy of my ID or I had to get out the pool. She clearly seen and with red me ask Maggie can I warm our food. I was racial profiles and this will not happen again at this hotel. My mind is all over the place I’m hurt I brought him to this hotel. I WILL NEVER GO THERE MY SELF AND I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND SOMEONE TO STAY THERE LIKE I DID WITH RECOMMENDING HIM to get a room for three days. You all sucks at customer service. I guess we were dirtying up the water from our color. But that was a sad situation for us to handle us like that.
