Great for an over night stay while travelling from Boston to New York it's only a short cab ride to the bars and restaurants of New Haven as well. The indoor pool Is on the small side but great for a quick dip after long drive.
This best western is not up to the brand standard. We paid over $200 per night and it is dirty, the rooms smelled either of animal (I hope) pee or like someone broke an entire bottle of very cheap men's cologne and sweat. The staff were kind enough to switch my room from the first but the second room had the latter issue, and I decided probably they all are like this. Old, musty and in need of ripping up the carpets. A disappointment, I would recommend driving out of this whole area and finding elsewhere to stay.

Absolutely horrific in so many ways! First, when we checked in I was told that I had to present a physical card and pay for the room, plus a $200 security deposit. Not remembering which card I used, I grabbed a different one (visa) out of my wallet and was charged for the security and room. About an hour later I got a notification that the room rate was charged to the card I held the room with (discover). Went downstairs to the desk, he was unhelpful...said he doesn't show the visa on the room, yet my bank statement says different. Says I'll be refunded to the discover and he'll speak with the manager and let me know. Next morning, had "breakfast" which was horrible. Coffee tasted like hot water and the eggs were once powder. Went out side to my car and cars were parked in the fire lane and in non spaces hindering the exit of anyone from the hotel let alone a firetruck or ambulance to come in. As a volunteer firefighter, you notice these things. Made my way to the desk and spoke to Kris about my billing situation. Says the manager, Christine, won't be in until after check out time. She gave me a credit card authorization form to fill out electronically, which was filled out by 8:08am and sent back. Upon check out at 9:30am I was told it was going to be taken care of. As of this post (Saturday at 9:27pm) neither card has been credited back nor has my security deposit been returned. As soon as the charges post (they're still pending) I will absolutely dispute them. Never again will I stay here when visiting the area which will be often as I have a child going to school in the area soon.
Honestly, avoid this location. Not only do they like to walk away from the front desk and leave you waiting, when you request extra linens, they won't bring them. They shut down the pool 2 hours before the time is stated on the website and honestly seems like they just overall don't want to work. Meanwhile you're paying quite a bit of money for a barely worth it room. Refrigerator in the room does not work. Ruined all of our food. I don't normally leave bad reviews but it's clear they don't care about their guests staying here.
