Excellent hotel for a small town. Fantastic staff. Highly recommend.

Beautiful , Clean , Comfortable Hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here twice now. The employees are also really nice and helpful. My only complaint was they need better cameras outside for the cars. Our car window was smashed on our last night stay due to lack of security and a bad area for thieves and bandits. 4 other cars also got there windows smashed. So if you stay here please park in front of the hotel. Don’t park on the side under the solar roof. That’s where our car got broken into. The hotel staff was accommodating and helpful but now I have to pay $300 for a new car window. SMH. Taft police are also nice and helpful. Make sure you file a report if your car gets broken into in this town.
Great customer service, we arrived super early and the lady at the front desk was very kind. She explained no rooms were ready and we obviously understood and just asked to check in. So we sat in the dining area to work quietly and 30 minutes later she unexpectedly came with key cards. The lobby is nice and clean as well as the outside. They also have three EV chargers in the parking lot. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast is from 5 am to 9 am and it has your typical items. Free wifi.

Stayed here 2 nights while on a trip to Carrizo Plain National Monument and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel. Taft is a small, no-frills oil town, but the Best Western Plus has the vibe of a larger city. Rooms were comfortable, well-appointed and very clean, front desk staff was friendly and responsive. Free breakfast was adequate. Since it's off the main street in town, it was very quiet. Would happily stay there again.
If you have ever wondered what it feels like to sleep above a jet engine, this hotel offers a very authentic simulation. The second floor room facing the front has a constant low frequency hum from the AC or building equipment, loud enough to make sleeping nearly impossible. At 11 pm there was no one at reception, and when someone eventually appeared the attitude was borderline rude and not helpful. There is no way management does not know about this issue, yet the staff made zero effort to even acknowledge or understand it. The noise level was unacceptable.
Apparently being “clean” is enough to earn good reviews, which says a lot about how low the bar for hotels seems to be these days. Yes, the room was technically clean, but clearly worn, stained carpet, marked blinds, tired interiors, and very overpriced for what you get. Stay away from this place.
