As BW Diamond Members, I can honestly say the Best Western Plus in Pleasanton, CA, is the worst BW we've ever stayed at. When making the on-line reservation, we requested a quiet room not realizing this property is surrounded by a freeway, so there are no quiet rooms!
When we went to check in, the computers were down. The situation was chaotic but after about a 30 minute wait, the Lead gave us what he said is a "quiet room". This "quiet room" faced the freeway. We tried to call the front desk to inquire about a room on the other side of the building but we were put, and left, on hold. So we sucked it up and had a sleepless night. As an added irritant, the ONE pair of earplugs they leave on the nightstand was not helpful for two people.
The next morning at breakfast, we asked the Lead about switching rooms. He went into a canned speech about how the rooms on the other side of the building weren't anymore quiet and was completely dismissive of wanting to help. After a few minutes we approached him again and asked if we were to check out that day (a day early) if we'd be charged. He seemed shocked that we didn't want to stay. It was only after I said "We don't want another sleepless night and you aren't willing to move us to another room" that he offered to let us go check out a room on the other side of the building. This side has the on-ramp and off-ramp to the freeway. Still noisy but not quite as bad. There are about 5 rooms that are farthest away from the freeway but apparently they were full and the Lead couldn't, or wouldn't, tell us if one would be available later.
To sum it up, the hotel needs updating, the customer service needs work, you can tell it's a budget hotel by the clientele and the need for a security guard, but at least the breakfast was decent. So just be warned, it is extremely noisy and you will get no rest. Best to avoid this BW!
