  My husband and I stopped here on our way back from Huntsville Ontario before heading home to Toronto. We got a room with balcony so we could see the river. Our first day was nice I used the pool and had it to myself and it was quite. The second day parents left their children and things became chaotic. They were yelling and throwing barbie dolls that went flying by my head in the pool and missing my head. No apologies and no taking it down a notch. Chidren of teenager age and one that looked about seven need to be told by parents be mindful of others in pool and not to toss barbie dolls the direction of others swimming. These barbies were also ending back onto pool deck too. --------------------------- If fishing help the staff out by informing them about any objects in the river that you see that are harming the property and ecosystem. They won't know unless they are told. We were fishing when we saw a shopping cart and what looked like dish towels in water and right away we emailed hotel. Got a email back right away with a response saying out of office but soon after and two employees were looking for spot I mentioned. Since we were still there we asked them do you work here? After getting a yes we showed them the shopping cart and dish rags . That shopping cart will be a challenge to get out because it is totally submerged in the water and its stuck in muck. Do people not understand what is involved to get that shopping cart out? It will need someone to go into the water and hook a chain onto it and then a vehicle to pull it out. It may be a great investment to get video servalance to see who is disrespecting the property. We have been staying at Best Western hotels for years and seeing this disrespecting of the river angered us. We could have stayed at another hotel by the river but chose this place because we read it was quiter.

  First time staying, very clean rooms. Pool was a great temperature. Easy to access location. Great view of the river and wildlife

  Stayed at the Best Western Otonabee from Aug 7 to Aug 9. After a long day of travel we wanted to shower and were met with hair in the tub and on the walls from the previous guests. We rinsed the tub out the best we could so we could get quick showers in without paying to much attention to our surroundings. We mentioned it to front desk the next morning as we found it unappetizing to shower in someone elses hair specifying there was still hair on the walls. We asked if they could give the shower a good look when they passed for housekeeping. We even mentioned it to housekeeping as we were leaving for the day and they said they would take care of it. Once back from another day out and about, we were met with all the hair in the exact same spots. Mentioned it again to the front desk the next morning and again nothing was done. We understand we are not staying at a 5-star establishment, but when the bare minimum is being done and the hotel is charging over $200 a night, you question if they care more about their profits or the people paying for the rooms. We can only imagine where else the bare minimum is being done around the hotel, but we'd rather not think about it too much. To the next guests staying in room 219, keep an eye out for hair on the walls of the shower. It's likely still there.

  Clean, modern rooms right next to everything Peterborough has to offer. Immaculate, park-like setting with tons of wildlife (Geese, Ducks, Groundhogs, Squirrels, and more!). Fish right outside your room in the river, swim in the pool, or laze in the hot tub. I've stayed here several times just for the setting and service. This place is a gem!
