  We had an excellent stay at the Lamplighter Inn this weekend and are already looking forward to coming back, hopefully for multiple nights next time! Our room was very clean and had some nice upgrades that made it feel comfortable and inviting. Aside from a broken toilet paper holder, we had no complaints. The king room with the separate bedroom and living area worked perfectly with our 1-year-old, giving him his own space to sleep while we could still enjoy the bedroom or balcony without disturbing him. The pool was warm, the pool area was clean, and we also had an excellent dining experience at Shelly’s. The fire alarm did go off around 5 a.m. for a minute or two, which was a bit frustrating with a one-year-old, especially since we had gotten up and were about to leave the room when it stopped. But things happen! I came to this hotel as a child, and this was my first time back in close to 20 years. It was so nice to see that it’s still well kept and a great place for a family weekend getaway!

  We randomly booked a stay here in a King Suite with separate living room, and I'm so incredibly surprised at how great of an experience we've had. Sometimes it's the simplest act of kindness that can really make your stay. Chris the life guard at the pool was such a kind and warm person, made the experience so welcoming for my young children. Can't give him enough praise for his ability to make people feel welcomed and safe around the pool, and then taking the kids over to feed the fish to end the night, just a great overall experience. We're seriously considering staying another night and we will definitely be back! Thanks to all the great staff for keeping the hotel beautiful and welcoming. Highly recommended!

  I booked the Best Western Lamplighter Inn specifically because it is advertised as a family- and kid-friendly hotel, with the pool and water slide being a major attraction. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing and definitely not worth the approximately $200 per night we paid. It wasn’t until my 5-year-old son had excitedly climbed all the way to the top of the water slide that we discovered he was not tall enough to ride it. I will take some responsibility for not checking the height requirement beforehand, but I was genuinely shocked that a hotel that markets its pool area so heavily toward families has a 48-inch minimum height requirement for its main attraction. Many children won’t reach 48 inches until they are six, seven, or even older. The water slide was honestly the entire reason I chose this hotel, so having my son standing there looking at a slide he couldn’t use was incredibly disappointing. Unfortunately, the rest of the pool area didn’t make up for it. The pool water was quite cool, and the air temperature in the pool area felt cold as soon as you got out of the water. There is also a hot tub, but it is restricted to guests 12 and older. For families with younger children, you’re essentially left with a regular pool while the two features that make the pool area special are unavailable to them. The lifeguards on duty during our visit appeared to be young teenagers, and I found their attitude quite rude and dismissive, which certainly didn’t help the experience. The room itself was okay, but dated, and there was a very noticeable smell of marijuana in the hallway. I did not appreciate having to walk my young son through that environment. I understand that safety requirements exist for a reason, and I’m not suggesting the hotel should disregard them. My issue is with how this property is marketed. If your primary reason for booking is to give a young child a fun hotel experience with a water slide, check their height before spending the money. At 48 inches, this attraction excludes a significant number of younger children, despite the hotel presenting itself as such a family-friendly destination. For approximately $200 a night, I expected a much better experience. Between the unusable water slide and hot tub for my son, the cold pool and pool area, dated accommodations, marijuana smell in the hallway, and unfriendly lifeguards, I left feeling like we had wasted our money. Unfortunately, I would not recommend the Best Western Lamplighter Inn as a destination for families with younger children, particularly if the water slide is the reason you’re considering staying here. I wish the height restriction had been much more prominently communicated before booking, because had I known, I absolutely would have chosen another hotel.

  A Truly Exceptional Stay I would give this hotel 100 stars if I could! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a horrible experience at another location where we unfortunately did not feel safe. Having stayed here before, I knew this hotel would be a much better choice, and they truly went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable, safe, and cared for. We were travelling with our 88-year-old mother, and the staff accommodated us in ways they absolutely did not have to. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with such kindness, compassion, and genuine care. Honestly, we felt like royalty! I have never experienced this level of hospitality from a hotel. I especially want to recognize the manager. I’m so sorry that I don’t remember his name, but this man deserves a huge raise! His kindness and the way he made us feel welcomed and valued will not be forgotten. A heartfelt thank you to every staff member we encountered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. You turned what started as a very stressful situation into an experience we will remember for all the right reasons. Your kindness, patience, and exceptional customer service truly made a difference to our family. Job very well done! ❤️ Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are incredibly grateful

  Stayed for one night on a road trip. Saw the pool advertised and had to check it out. Room itself is dated but was mostly clean (see below) clean, but most people go for the pool. The toilet is comically low to the ground. If you’re even average height, you’ll struggle to get down to it. The pool itself is really quite something, especially at this price point, and it’s clearly the biggest draw. There are life guards on duty (up to 5) and they were all very diligent. The water slide is awesome but swimmers need to be 48” tall to use it, and it isn’t open all the time so don’t show your littles the slide before arriving to avoid disappointment. It really is a fast slide and not for small kids. So the bad. Unfortunately we were only able to use the pool for about 45 minutes during our stay. The hotel allows non-toilet trained swimmers to use it and the pool was defecated in twice in 3 hours causing it to be evacuated both times while the lifeguards shocked it, which takes 30+ min. The water system is shared with the water slide and hot tub, so the entire pool area is affected and dozens of guests are taken out of the pool, hot tub and slide. If you’ve come just for the pool, this will be disappointing. The hotel should require all swimmers to be toilet trained given this is the main draw. While I was in the shower, I noticed it wasn’t draining. I had to remove the plug and fish a giant hair clump out of the drain. When I reported the issue at checkout, the desk agent said I should have called to have maintenance deal with it. What was I supposed to do? Let the maintenance guy in the shower with me? No discounted rate or anything offered - not even a coupon for next time. Not great service. Ultimately this is a good hotel with a great pool if all goes well during your stay. Just be aware it becomes a rather average hotel if the pool has a problem.
