I usually enjoy my stay at this location but unfortunately this time around my room was dirty. Yellow crusty substance in the bed sheets and food on the floor. I was moved to another room swiftly, but again the room was not great. Dried blood on the comforter, a dirty couch and a hole in the bathroom roof that leaked water on me in the morning. I’m not one to complain but this is too much. I’ve stayed in a lot of best westerns for work and this one was not worth over $400 for a dirty king room. I was hoping to upload photos but I don’t see the option.

We stayed at the Best Western in Golden and unfortunately our first night left a pretty bad impression.
When we got into the room, we noticed what appeared to be dried blood on the white duvet/comforter. Around 10 PM, I went downstairs and asked for a replacement. At first I referred to it as a blanket, and the employee working, Riza, gave me a rough extra blanket instead. I tried explaining that I meant the white bedding on the bed, and once I said “comforter” she understood what I was asking for.
What bothered me most was the way the interaction was handled. The response came across as unnecessarily condescending and dismissive, including some sarcastic-looking gestures at the end. I wasn’t trying to make a difficult request — I simply didn’t want to sleep with bedding that had dried blood on it.
Since it was already around 10 PM, nobody came up to change the bedding, so we ended up removing and replacing the duvet ourselves.
I understand mistakes happen in hotels, but blood-stained bedding is a cleanliness issue, and when a guest brings something like that up, I would expect it to be handled professionally and without making the guest feel like they’re being difficult.
The hotel itself may be fine otherwise, but based on the cleanliness issue and how it was handled, our first-night experience was disappointing. 2/5 stars.
We were supposed to stay Sunday, Aug. 2 on the long weekend. All of Golden was without power including this hotel. We had 2 young kids so we couldn't stay not knowing when power would be restored. This was a stressful road trip as the region was struggling with wildfires and smoke, at the time.
This hotel completely understood and issued a full refund even though the loss of power was not in their control. Thank you to the general manager and Best Western customer service for their continued excellent customer service.

Dont let the outside fool you, the hotel is actually quite nice once your inside, clean, and smelled good in the lobby, once up to our room it was clean, bathroom was clean as well, we just wish the breakfast could've been longer atleast till even 10:30, overall we would stay here again. The pool is also very good, was clean, plus a nice sauna
