Had a wonderful experience, store was very clean and neatly organized. Associate helped me pick out an adorable outfit that I thought would make a great present for my daughter, even bought a second sweater that matched the skirt because it was so cute. The cashier was very friendly and told me and the customer in front of me (from Boston) that returns in US would be no problem and that they did them all the time (I assumed in reverse). I purchase a few other items for my oldest child, one of which was clearance. Apparently, clearance items have a different sku than the original item so the cashier even went out of her way to provide the original sku to make any potential return easier. Unfortunately, the 2 sweaters and skirt did not fit. When we went to return in US is when we found out that AE does not allow cross border returns, apparently they cannot figure out the exchange rate. Totally fine, I get that. Can we have a store credit then or just swap for different. Still a no. I called AE customer service and all they wanted to do was repeat the return policy. I asked for them to send me a return label, NO. I asked for a shipping label to Canada, NO. I asked if I mailed it to the mailing address at the bottom of my receipt (Our mailing address: 77 Hot Metal Street Pittsburgh, PA 15203, USA) and have them process the return, NO. Can I pay to mail it to the store in Canada to have it returned, YES. I paid cash for this purchase, how will they handle that, they do not know. So the store does not seem to have a clear understanding of the return policy and the customer service does not know how the store processes returns, but they are very proficient in repeating the return policy.
