  I was traveling with my 3 children alone. Our original accommodation was falling through and after 10 hours of driving, I was stressed. I booked this hotel without seeing the cancellation fee. My bad. I do understand that was overlooked on my end. However our original property came through for us and I went to cancel with Best Western and saw the fee. Money is tight but we needed the mental break from life, right? I requested a free cancellation and the hotel dismissed the request. I called the property in the morning and spoke to a very unpleasant man. I tried to explain the situation but his tone was rude from "hello". As I explained what had happened, the man sighed into my ear as if to prove he didnt care to listen. I asked for the manager and he repeated "What do you need ma'am " over three times as I attempted to assess if he was the manager. He stated they had kept the room so he would be charging me the $195. My reservation was cancelled 1.5 hrs after making it at 8pm at night. There were 4 other rooms on booking.com available. I asked him if my 1.5 hr reservation kept them from business and he spoke over me to tell me "this is how we do business". He was rude and unempathetic the whole time. Even if the ultimate answer remained the same, his customer service was one of the worst Ive ever encountered. Ive stayed here previously and visit Townsend yearly. They have lost my business now. Not completely because he refused to budge on the fee but mainly due to how he conducted himself in an unprofessional manner. My opinion of this man couldnt be lower.

  We did not enjoy our stay here the beds were rock hard. Ants were all over the table. There was no hot water in the showers and the bathroom needs an overall update. It looked nasty with mildew stained shower curtains.

  This is by far the best hotel experience we have ever had. Andre, the evening check in folks, and the housekeeping were all amazing. So kind, so helpful, literally going above and beyond to help us while we were dealing with an unfortunate situation. If it had not been for this hotel and Andre, we would not have had anywhere to go. We were stranded in Cades Cove and they helped us make sure we had everything we needed to get home the next day. The delicious breakfast was a perk too.
