  The biggest complaint we had was the air quality. All the rooms smelled strongly of mildew and moisture. It reminded me of the tropical hotels. How the ones that get too much moisture smell of mold, musty, etc. How is the best Western in Plattsburgh creating that from just having one indoor pool (as they said was the cause)? The first room was intolerable right away. They moved our room away from the pool hall but there was only some improvement. By about 11pm the air was causing my throat to get sore and I was stuffy. All the sheets and pillows had that feeling of moisture but they weren't wet. The room was very old and dirty. We didn't want to use the shower as that was the most disgusting looking. Anything that touched the floor was thrown out if it wasn't something that could be washed. The staff was very nice. I wanted to check out after that first room but had bought a non refundable room. At about 2 in the morning we were still struggling to sleep. Then at about 7 or 8 am the banging and soon after, the vacuuming began. So no sleep on that side too. We were so exhausted we couldn't get up in time to also get food so we skipped whatever they serve for breakfast. We read the reviews before going to the hotel. I don't know how they have such a good rating overall. But I felt it was important to share. If anyone has asthma or allergies do NOT stay there. I should have taken more pictures but here are a few. First is dirt that I took off the furniture.

  I had a great stay at Best Western, friendly staff and the room was decent, we got a room next to the pool so it was easy access. The breakfast was ok but one thing must be the carpet as it is dirty. Overall I enjoyed it.

  Great pool. One of the best pools I've visited for this type of hotel.

  Forced to get luggage trolley in pouring rain; not under cover of a roof at main check in desk. Got soaking wet.
