Pros: - Good location - Staff was generally friendly - Bathroom was very newly remodeled (toilet still had manufacturer sticker on it) and the complimentary shampoo etc was very nice . Cons: - Sheets had some stains; found a dead bug on my pillowcase - TV was ridiculously hard to work; still never quite figured it out - Front desk guy gave us some pre-loaded arcade cards and said “have your kids play some games on me.” When we arrived at the arcade, we quickly learned that each card he had given us was only pre-loaded with 60 credits and none of the games could be played at that amount; you needed at least over 100 credits to play. Couldn’t combine cards to play either. So the cards were useless… felt a bit shady to phrase it as though we could play some free games when in reality, it was basically a scam to get us in the arcade and spend more money. If the desk guy had been honest up front that we wouldn’t be able to use them without spending money to add more credits, then I would’ve appreciated the transparency. . Questionable: - On our second evening there, multiple children found a dark log shape object at the bottom of the pool and were using goggles to observe it. My child was convinced it was poop. Another much old child dove to retrieve it and had it in his palm, and immediately tossed it and exclaimed it was indeed poop. There was a toddler in the pool so it very likely could have been. When the manager arrived he scooped it out and several other similar looking objects. He didn’t order anyone out of the pool while he was cleaning, but everyone was getting out anyway. As we were leaving, he told us it was just a stone. Maybe it was, but I have to admit I was a little suspicious he just didn’t want to go through the trouble of shutting the entire pool down if it really was poop. I guess we’ll never know. . In summary, for the price it’s a decent spot for a layover on the way to Mackinac Island. But I wouldn’t stay more than a night or two.

This was our second time staying at this hotel. It is Motel style meaning you enter from an outside corridor. Small lobby. Staff very friendly. We got a room overlooking the water which was nice, tiny balcony and a lot of mosquitos this time of year so we did not utilize it. Nice morning breakfast. Beds with average comfort. Clean but needs updating. Beach area nice but to add to the ambiance I would suggest a few firepits (cooler in evenings) and more chairs for the beach. Overall enjoyed our stay and would stay here again

Great bang for your buck. They are right close to the main strip in town and restaurants. Staff was exceptional, knowledgeable and warm, and front lobby is very nice with complimentary coffee, pool access and large common area - smells nice too. We had a ground floor room because we wanted to have easy access to our bikes. Bikes can be locked in common room for safety. The room was spacious with a spa, smelled nice, massive TV, ample storage space, dehumidifier/climate control and a comfy bed. Minor things like the taps had calcium build up were here and there on the bathroom sink. But spa seemed to be more up to date. Air conditioning works but it is a bit dated. Rooms were actually surprisingly quiet and we were able to get a great sleep. Free full big breakfast from 7-9 - pancakes, cereal, sausage, bacon, eggs, fruit, juice/coffee, granola bars and yogurt. I don't have any real complaints! It is not a luxury hotel but a cozy motel vibe, clean, kind and welcoming. Great for families and people looking to safe a buck in mackinaw city. Highly recommend!

Every time me and my bestie have stayed here, we have had nice rooms, good service, and the location is ideal for walking to the city or to the ferry! The only thing stopping me from giving this 5 stars is the fact that the breakfast ends so early (9 am). The other thing is the manager guy? I assume he's the manager because we have seen him YELLING at the staff about getting things done on more than one day. We've heard him say things like "get this cleaned NOW! Are you not a responsible adult?!" and "this isn't a joke, I'm starting to get yelled at for this! You need to fix it!". We've even heard him from the parking lot while he was on the 4th floor. 4 floors up! Nobody should have to deal with that kind of abuse at work, not to mention to do such yelling in front of guests is INCREDIBLY unprofessional.

Rude Management and Poor Customer Service Overshadowed the Stay A disappointing check-in experience combined with an unprofessional management attitude led us to leave this hotel within 15 minutes of entering the room, despite paying for a two-night stay. My spouse and I were visiting Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island for the first time in 15 years. We arrived around 1 PM and stopped by the hotel simply to park the car and see whether an early check-in might be available. I fully understood that official check-in was at 4 PM and was not expecting a room immediately and I did not even mention that. However, the front desk clerk, in a condescending tone, told me that “if I had read the fine print,” I would have known check-in was at 4 PM and that I would need to return later for the keys. The comment was unnecessary and set the tone for the entire experience. After walking around town for a while, I decided it might make more sense to shorten our stay to one night. Around 3 PM, I went back to the hotel and the manager was at the front desk. I politely asked whether canceling the second night would be possible. The manager immediately refused, incorrectly referencing the cancellation deadline of 11AM (for the first night rather than addressing the second night I was asking about). Throughout the interaction, there was no effort to be accommodating or solution-oriented. I did not argue. We were given our room keys at that point, but there was no welcome information provided beyond directions to the room. No mention of breakfast location or hours, Wi-Fi, amenities, or anything else typically communicated during hotel check-in, such as something that would not be working. There is no elevator and I have bad hips, but they did not offer help with the luggage. The room itself was acceptable but dated, and cleanliness could have been better. The advertised lake view was also underwhelming. I then spent about 15 minutes unsuccessfully trying to use the TV’s streaming features. We decided that was not the vacation we had in mind and the hotel attitude had affected the whole experience and we decided it would be best to just cut the loses and just go home. When I returned to the front desk to check out, the manager asked whether something was wrong with the room. I calmly explained that the check-in interaction had been unpleasant, the room did not meet expectations, and the TV streaming was not working. Rather than acknowledging any of those concerns, the manager simply stated that the internet TV was down and there was nothing wrong with the room, immediately emphasizing that I would still be charged for both nights. Policies are one thing, but attitude and customer service matter. What stood out most during this experience was not the older room itself, but the dismissive and indifferent way concerns were handled from beginning to end.
