My husband and I recently had the opportunity to stay at the best western San Juan Capistrano in a King Room featuring a balcony.
Upon arrival, we found the room to be impeccably clean and well-maintained, which was highly appreciated. However, we did note that the interior decor and furnishings appeared somewhat dated. While the bed provided a comfortable level of firmness, we found the pillows to be exceptionally flat and lacking adequate support.
A significant inconvenience arose on Saturday morning when we discovered there was no hot water available for showering. As we were leaving for the days activities we overheard staff members discussing efforts to repair the hot water heater. A proactive communication or notification regarding this temporary issue would have been extremely helpful, as the sudden absence of hot water was quite disruptive to our morning routine. Furthermore, we observed that the shower enclosure could benefit from some attention, as the glazing near the drain on the shower base was noticeably chipped.
In contrast to these points, we were thoroughly impressed with the quality and selection of the hotel breakfast, and the dining area was consistently clean. The staff members we encountered throughout our stay were uniformly polite, accommodating, and contributed positively to our experience.
We also wished to mention that the hotel's entrance proved a little challenging to locate initially, being somewhat tucked away. Clearer signage or more explicit directions might assist future guests in finding it without difficulty, as we had to make a U-turn after passing it.
Despite these observations, the hotel's prime location proved to be exceptionally convenient for us. Its close proximity to the Mission and various local attractions, particularly as we were in town for a wedding, was a significant advantage, making many destinations easily accessible by foot.
