Friendly staff.
I'm not sure what Best Western uses as their standard for giving a property a "Plus" designation but I suspect this property is probably on the lower end of that scale. Everything is a bit rough around the edges. The exterior is well lit but it doesn't seem to be meticulously maintained. It's just has a overall worn look about it.
The room was comfortable but just a little worn out overall. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean.
The complimentary breakfast was OK. Compared to other BW+ properties, it wasn't the best. The coffee was pretty awful, which is a big deal to me. The usual waffle maker, cereals, toast, fruit cups, and the like. There were breakfast sandwiches although I didn't have one. The breakfast room was comfortable and well spaced.
The parking lot was small be well lit.
Surveillance cameras are mounted on the exterior of the building within the hallways. I don't know if they're monitored or are recording anything.
Great rooms and pleasant service!
I was actually rather disappointed with this location especially being a Best Western Plus. The room had no USB or C ports so make sure you have a charging block. I did not have a charging block as this was a last minute emergent stay. Additionally the bathroom strongly smelled of mold, the toilet seat was barely hanging on (I thought my daughter had fell), the bed covers had cigarette burns on it and the mini refrigerator sounded like a creepy breathing from a scary movie. The continental breakfast was okay: breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, bread, cereal, orange juice, coffee and waffles you make on your own but no individual sausages, bacon or eggs.
The good things are it is freeway close, many restaurants close by, hamburger joint right across the street, next to Palmdale Hospital, grocery store is near, mall is near and gas is near.
Within a mile of the Harley-Davidson dealer (Antelope Valley HD). It was a host dealership for Arizona Spring Heat HOG Rally.
The experience was generally underwhelming and I was very disappointed.
The good: the front desk staff was pretty good. The first lady I felt with was fine, and the checkin process was smooth. The second lady was very nice and when I needed to checkout early she informed me that the remaining time on my reservation would be refunded. I was happy that they were easy to deal with.
The bad: the hotel and room seemed fairly clean at first. But there was kind of a smell about the whole place, stairwells were pretty grungy, and things seemed very out of date. At first I thought, "you get what you pay for" but when my daughter developed a rash after sleeping in the bed and then I looked at the mattress underneath the sheets I realized we needed to get the hell out of there. The continental breakfast is... Okay. For a cheaper hotel I suppose it's okay but I was pretty disappointed anyway. Soggy pre-made breakfast sandwiches, and the most basic kind of food besides. Shower leaked from the bathtub faucet so that's pretty worn out. TV remote hardly worked intermittently. And the room was uncomfortably hot when we got there and took hours to cool down. And this was in a warm spring, not the prodigious California desert heat of summer. And this last one might just be me looking for extra things to complain about but I felt like the whole cleaning staff gave me the side eye when I saw them. Definitely not a smiling, welcoming feeling. (But who knows. Maybe I was giving off bad vibes by that point)
Overall, would not recommend.
