  The hotel has a very cool layout with open air walkways and most rooms have balconies. The pool was nice and the fitness center seems to been redone recently with new equipment. It's walking distance from a coffee shop, several restaurants, and a natural food store.

  We worked with the Best Western Humboldt House Inn in Garberville for our wedding at the Julia Morgan Redwood Grove, and we could not have asked for a better hotel partner. The manager, Ren, and his entire team were absolutely outstanding! Ren helped us secure a generous room block nearly a year before our wedding and worked closely with us throughout the months leading up to it. Our wedding weekend was an incredibly busy one, with guests from multiple weddings staying at the hotel, but Ren always made us feel like a priority. He personally helped our guests with reservations, corrected bookings that had accidentally been made outside our room block and even helped us find rooms for guests who had mistakenly booked the wrong dates when the hotel was otherwise sold out. His responsiveness and willingness to solve problems took so much stress off our shoulders. We also brought a U-Haul trailer full of wedding décor up from Los Angeles. Ren thoughtfully put us in a room right off the parking lot and blocked off spaces directly outside our room so we could easily load and unload everything throughout the week. His team even allowed us to use the hotel dumpsters for our event trash afterward, saving us from having to find a dump and haul everything there ourselves. These may sound like little things individually, but when you are coordinating a wedding, they make an enormous difference. Ren was truly a partner to us every step of the way. He and his team consistently went above and beyond to make things easier for us and to ensure that everyone staying at the hotel for our wedding had a great experience. We are incredibly grateful to Ren and the entire Humboldt House team and wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a wedding or event in Southern Humboldt. If you are coordinating a wedding room block, you could not ask for a more helpful, accommodating, and caring hotel partner. Thank you, Ren and team, for helping make our wedding week so wonderful!

  This shouldn’t be listed as a plus. The property owners have let this location go down the drain. Everything seemed to have an “out of order” sign on it. It’s really too bad because it’s located in such a beautiful area. Getting into my room, there was no shampoo, I called the front desk, and she made me come back to the office to get it myself. Then the A/C unit was broken, my screen door was off it’s tracks, there was trash on our balcony. I look out over the pool, and the Hot Tub is broken. Then I went to get ice, ice machine is broken. Breakfast arrives and I was looking forward to BW’s good full meal, nope, not this time. They had a pancake conveyor machine advertised… that was again “out of order” Yougurt machine… out of order. There were dead gnats in my Honey Nut Cheerios. Sad selection of cheap sausage links and paper thin bacon. No waffle machine that my kids are always excited about at most the BW plus locations. Needless to say, I won’t be coming back to this location that I paid premium fee’s for.

  There is no way this hotel is a 4 star rated hotel, it doesnt even deserve one. They must be paying reviewers to get it to higher. Its a older hotel with original furnishings. The chairs are stained, carpet was filthy like it hadn't been cleaned in several nights. The night stand has a sticky substance on it. We eas traveling with a large bus group and they all had similar experiences. So it wasn't just our room, I would keep driving to the next town.

  Upon check in our room was not clean. Beds were quite obviously slept in and there was trash from the guests before. There were used towels all over the restroom and clothing from the prior guests in the drawers, there were also ants in the kitchen area. Room was not check in ready. We drove over 6 hours with littles and just wanted to go to sleep. The only options they had were to move us into 2 separate rooms that also still needed to be cleaned if we moved rooms. We had to wait almost 2 hours to finally have clean beds and a clean room. They also do not answer their phone during the day we tried calling several times before we arrived to let them know we will be a late check in and didn’t want to lose our reservation. In the morning talked to the front desk lady Helen who was very obviously high on something, was nodding off trying to talk to us and couldn’t keep her eyes open let alone form a sentence. We had little children with us and that is just unexceptionable and unprofessional. Could only give us half our stay back which is whatever definitely would never stay here again.
