Stopped here for an overnight stay. Check-in was smooth & quick. Lobby was clean. Our room was on the 2nd floor. Upon opening the door, we were hit with a strong musty smell. We noticed that the sheets had a slightly damp feel to it. The window was able to be opened, so we are not sure if this contributed to the mold as it doesn't appear that the window has good seals. The moldy smell triggered my allergies, so I went to the front desk. Joshua was apologetic and offered us another room; however, this room was worse than the first ( strong moldy/musty smell and the AC was not on, which made the smell worse). Addressed it again with Joshua. He then proceeded to activate three additional keys and accompanied me to these rooms to choose. We did find one that was a lot better.
All of the rooms we saw were clean, but you can tell that this is an older hotel with little modern amenities/updates. The rooms we saw and stayed in have carpet which surprised me as I have been in hotels throughout the south that have removed their carpets and went with flooring ( not sure if that helps with the humidity/mildew issues). Since AL can be very humid in the summer months, I believe that it is imperative to implement ways to decrease humidity and make it harder for mold to take hold.
Hot breakfast was served (our menu for the morning included scrambled eggs, sausage links, biscuits, and gravy), in addition to staples such as cereal, bagels, waffles, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, etc.
Love the contact less water dispenser that is available at all times in the lobby, and do appreciate that water and tea are available. The pool was closed when we arrived.
JOSHUA- many thanks for your kindness, professionalism, candor, assistance, & patience. Know that it was appreciated.
I hate leaving bad reviews, but I have to be honest.
We checked in around 3:00 a.m., and by 4:00 a.m. we were already checking out. The room looked clean at first, but then roaches started crawling on my shoes and coming out from around the refrigerator. That was an immediate nope for us.
I do want to give a shoutout to James at the front desk. He was super nice, understanding, and refunded us with no issues at all. His customer service was the best part of the experience.
The only thing that really sucked was that it was the middle of the night, so we couldn’t get into another hotel until around 11:00 a.m. We ended up having to sleep in our car for several hours, which was inconvenient and honestly didn’t feel very safe.
The customer service was great, but the roaches were a dealbreaker. I really hope they get the pest problem taken care of because everything else seemed fine.

Blood stained sheets, everything was dirty, smelled moldy, shower was absolutely disgusting, outdoor pool was green and the beds were basically not even beds - better off sleeping on the ground. Don’t stay here.
Front desk staff and manager are not friendly nor helpful. Our toilet stopped up immediately and there was nobody to assist my wife in getting it fixed. A housekeeper had to give her a dirty, wet plunger to do it herself. When she went to return it, she saw the manager and said “I have been looking for you for help with my clogged toilet.” His response was a laugh. Our room’s toilet also ran until I fixes it. The closet in our room had visible mold and smelled like a wet dog with mold. Dariah is exceptionally bad at her job; will tell you one thing and then the manager has to correct her. Other than being exposed to toxins, the stay was fine and the breakfast is good.
This hotel is a major disappointment, especially for families with children or those with underlying health issues.
While the front desk staff was friendly, that alone wouldn’t warrant a 0-star rating.
Before booking, I researched the hotel online and saw that it had a majority of 4-star ratings. It’s a Best Western Plus, so I expected better quality than a regular Best Western.
We stopped by this hotel during our road trip and booked two rooms. As soon as we entered the lobby, we were hit with a strong air freshener smell. It was clearly used to cover up the mold that was present.
When we checked into the first room, we could immediately smell a mix of mold and a funky odor. We all started sneezing, and it lasted all night. Later, I went to check the second room, and it was even worse. The floor was wet, and there was a strong moldy smell. It was absolutely disgusting.
My husband and child have asthma, and the mold in this hotel triggered their symptoms immediately and lasted all night. Before this incident, I hadn’t seen any reviews mentioning the mold, so I was unaware of the problem.
This hotel is in a terrible state. It’s nothing like the pictures on the website.
