One of the worst retail experiences I have had, and unfortunately, it happened twice in the same week.
I visited the Best Buy store at Dufferin Mall on June 4, 2027, around 4:00 PM to purchase the newly launched Google Fitbit Air. I was informed that the store had just received stock, but within moments, it was supposedly sold out. What was most disappointing was seeing the last unit being purchased by the store manager, Gagan, who was already wearing the same product on his wrist. When I tried to ask questions about availability, my concerns were ignored, and customer service seemed to be the least of his priorities.
As a customer, I expect professionalism and respect, especially from management at a major retailer like Best Buy Canada. Following this experience, I submitted an online complaint to Best Buy Canada, but I have yet to receive any response.
Hoping for a better experience, I returned to the store on June 7, 2027, around 4:20 PM. The store was nearly empty, yet no one approached me to offer assistance. When I asked an employee named Rafe about the product, his attitude was extremely disappointing. Instead of helping, he appeared to judge me based on my appearance and showed zero interest in providing customer service. His body language and overall attitude made me feel unwelcome.
Customer service is the foundation of any successful retail business. Products can sell out, but there is no excuse for poor communication, lack of respect, or indifference toward customers. Best Buy Canada should seriously invest in customer service training and ensure employees understand how to treat customers professionally and respectfully.
Based on my experience, I would think twice before shopping at this location again and would not recommend it to friends or family. There are plenty of places where customers are treated with the respect and attention they deserve.
